Like I said from the beginning, I believe the likely winner of this award will come from a veteran NCAA player in a conference not up to par with some of the better conferences in the game.
Well, the only reason I got into this with you is because you discounted Schwartz's chances of winning the Hobey based on the fact he didn't win the preseason player of the year award. Like I said in my original reply, you might be right about the bolded part, but Schwartz is definitely in the conversation.

We'll just have to watch and let it unfold.

Another vote for Kristo. The most skilled player in D1.

I still believe it will be Kreider. He has the most talent in college and is starting to dominate the way he was expected.

In fact, I don't envision a highly touted prospect winning the award. In the end it'll be a tenured NCAA player that will take it in my opinion. Who that player is, hard to say given the field. A lot of quality options.
Schwartz was injured last year and still put up almost 50 points. He is a beast. Absolutely a favorite for the Hobey Baker.

Dude, the last time a HB winner came from a conference outside of the CCHA, WCHA or Hockey East was like 1989.

Out of the teams I've seen so far this year, North Dakota, Denver, Wisconsin, BC and Maine, Zucker has looked the most impressive. Kristo looks like he's going to put up some big numbers as he gets a lot of quality ice time.

Nice to see Anders Lee doing so well again, really wanted the Habs to draft him, oh well. Same for Drew LeBlanc

They do have a Hockey East ROTY award I believe and an overal EACA ROTY. Not sure what all the requirements for those are though.

But why don't you think he has a shot at the Baker? He is better than Arnold and Arnold is leading in points on the club and someone thought he was an HB candidate.

If Arnold is leading in points, what would make you think Gaudreau is better than he is? Arnold is a year older - he should be better than Gaudreau.

As well; Zucker t-13th for goals with 23 and Jaden is t-43 with 17. But even more telling is Zucker had more game winning goals.

Furthermore he has continued on his tear and has as many PPG this year as Schwartz.
I am a Blues fan but really don't have anything to add to the debate because I do not follow college hockey on any basis.

But game winning goals is the most useless statistic I have ever heard of.

You don't think it shows a measure of how 'clutch' a guy is? I think GWG in the playoffs is particularly interesting... I don't see how it's useless?

I liken it to +/-. In the right context, it can be useful, however, it shouldn't be a stand-alone basis for an opinion.

I do think Schwartz is a top 5 player this year in the NCAA, but I don't want the Hobey Baker curse attached to one of our top 2 prospects. Let him finish second and crack the Blues third line next year with Tarasenko!

Anders Lee is a *****.

First he plays for Saint Thomas the most hated program in class A here in Minnesota. They are a bunch of military school **** who get recruited from all over the state. Thats bull**** in high school hockey where public schools can't recruit.

wait theres more

In his senior year he decides to switch schools to try and win the class AA state championship too so he switches to the biggest cake eater school in the state Edina. yea Edina bunch of cake eater rich boys.

Screw Anders Lee he sucks

Zucker all the way! But he is only going to win because Justin Faulk already left college

It doesn't take much thought to figure this one out...

"Who is the early favorite for Hobey Baker?"

"Someone who couldn't manage to be the early favorite for another, less prestigious award?"

Seriously, think about how stupid that thought train is for a few seconds before flipping out that someone didn't lavish mounds of praise upon your personally selected hockey saint.
