That was a deliberate check to the head and Riemer was in his crease the entire time .. I hope Shanny steps up on this one.

I too want the Shanahammer to bring the justice. Something tells me there will be nothing. I'd be fine with one game, if Gionta has no past history, not familiar with his work.

If this was a suspension, I'd argue that Gionta should get one too.

The Price on Kadri incident deserves a look also.

If they want to cut down on head injuries... swinging a stick purposefully at someone's head while they are in a vulnerable position should get a look.

The Habs are such a filthy team, as usual. The diving act is still in full effect too.

As much as I hate to see Reimer out for any time, I didn't see any intent on Gionta's part. He was skating hard to the top of the crease to pick the puck out of a teammate's skate.

If you watch the replay, you can see that Gionta's focus is completely on the puck and not on Reimer. He deserved the goalie interference penalty, but I don't see a suspension in this.

Just like Andrew Ference's hit on Jeff Halpern? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUulx-PcVDY

His focus was completely away from Halpern too! It was just some crazy coincidence that Ference's elbow magically hit Halpern's head!

Give me a break. Gionta knew exactly what he was doing. It was payback for the Leafs running Price a couple of times last game.

I would argue that there are three players that the team cannot afford to lose for any length of time: Reimer, Kessel and Phaneuf.

Not really comparable. One's a scrabble board of injuries, and one has a relatively healthy history other than the usual grind.

I think Gionta's may have been accidental, but what Carey Price did, swinging his goalie stick at Kadri's head, is something worth a second look. I'd give Price a game for that. That is bush league and cowardice to swing your stick purposely at someone's head.

Its safe to say you could add Grabovski to that list. Although his line isn't up to speed yet hes the engine that drives our second line and when Kessel isn't scoring thats vital.

it'll be hard justifying not giving a suspension at all

the intentional part doesn't matter that much. it matters more for the length of the suspension. i believe mac's video said 'although i agree he did not intentionally target the head...'

considering reimer left the game 2 games min

Gotta love Reims. All about the team. I'm not sure every goaltender would pull himself out if he was feeling something "wrong". Alot of guys might tend to play through it, possibly making it worse.

Just like the good ol' days. Now if we just played the same way back, then the rivalry will regain that spark.

Gionta should be suspended, Price should be suspended.....seriously?

Jesus people relax. It's hockey, not chess.
It sucks, but people are going to get injured.

Quit being so sensitive.

This has nothing to do with sensitivity. These guys didn't fall and sprain themselves. It was two plays, where there was an intent to injure. Kadri had a stick swung at his head, Reimer was blindsided by a hit to the head. If you haven't been watching hockey, it might be news to you; but the league is supposedly cracking down on these.

There is nothing wrong with looking for fairness, when this team had to see MacArthur suspended 2 games for a completely innocent looking play. Did you get your panties in a bunch then, and email the league and tell them to stop being sensitive?

I hope you can tell the difference. Re-arrange your under garments, and relax yourself.
