Dineen likes to ride the hot hand, so expect a heavy dose of Markstrom

Well he's played in 3games. Only 6 more and they'll have to make a decision because after that it would count as a full season. If they are unable to trade Clemmer when he returns and/or don't think Markstrom would play at least 30games I would have to think he would get sent down rather then waste a year of his ELC. Markstrom's play til this point is making this decision really hard on Tallon right now because I know Tallon wants him to play a full season in the minors to get use to playing a lot of games.

Pretty sure the AHL counts as a professional season.

Correct - the 10 game rule only applies to players that are too young for the AHL, and as such can only play in the NHL (10 or more games) or be sent back to Junior (9 or less NHL games), which saves a year on their contract.

So either year Markstrom is burning a year on his contract.

wasn't sure if it was or not. I guess it doesn't matter how many games then.

I don't think he should go back to the A.

I'm positive he won't play at this level all year, but even if he regresses, you could still make a case that of the three goalies on the roster he's the one most capable of stealing a game.

The future is nice to dream about and all, but the future could be...well, the present. We're 5-3. Good start, in large part thanks to his last two games.

Also, if we're thinking about sending him down, I think he should be getting the majority of the starts until Clem comes back. That would be the best way to evaluate it.

There's no way you can send him down after the first 3 appearances he's made this year.

my opinion is that I agree with your opinion

btw, your opinion that Vokoun wouldn't make those saves connects to my opinions a while back (I don't know if you remember) where I made threads talking about Vokoun's lack of athleticism, exactly what I was trying to say

A three-headed monster is forming. But if Marky starts to really struggle, there's no doubt he'll be sent down. I hope he's ready to stay up here for a full season, but if he's not management will do what's in his best interests. It's really up to him. He hasn't won anything yet.

I remember.

Markstrom is just unfair though. The combination of athleticism and size. I would imagine his rebound control will get better sooner or later. He could be like the human wall.

Absolutely not.

I always said it when he was here, and still believe it to be true. Tomas Vokoun is one of the best goalies in the NHL. I wanted him back this offseason, and I think he was a true professional here.

I'm just saying I don't think he makes some of the saves Markstrom made against Montreal.

I am a huge Vokoun fan as you all know. I was very sorry to see him go.

He does NOT make the saves Markstrom made. The Alien is from a different planet.

But he has made those types of saves. So does he just not anymore for some bizarre reason?

riding the bus

Didnt know where to post this. Funny video. Markstrom is huge, and really does look 6-6. I like the end where he tells Tallon he wasnt lying about the burgers. Tallon asks him if he ever lied to him before, and Marky says, "I dont think so." Then you hear Tallon laugh it off. Great to see the team enjoying each others company.

I usually agree with this opinion, but the save he made on Darche in the first period was just amazing.

you mean the crazy-desperate-on-your-back-throw-your-glove-up-look-what-i-found save? c'mon. that's luck, nothing more. that kinda stuff doesn't impress me. the skill and athleticism involved on some of the other saves he (and vokoun) made should impress. he and vokoun aren't on different planets at this point, tho. vokoun has a .944 SP and is 6-0 for crying out loud!

He has his skates on in that video.

I like how Skille is wearing flip flops with all his gear still on.

Guess you didn't see this game, either. Only catch the highlights again? Re-watch them, he clearly looked the puck into his glove and saw it all the way. Luck? How is anyone supposed to take you seriously when you say stuff like that? I mean, you go out there with some things, but luck? More than half the goalies in the League wish they had that kind of luck.
