TSN commented on the fact that the healthy scratches for tonight's Canada/CIS game are probably safe bets to make the team. Bob McKenzie (or maybe it was Ray Ferraro, I can't recall) also commented earlier in the day that Hamilton provides a lot of versatility to the team because he can play on the wing or at center.

I would be shocked if he gets cut.

Also Abeltshauser and Germany are in the lower division WJCs, not the top one with Canada/USA/Sweden/Russia/Etc. They got relegated last year.

Freddie Hamilton has made the team - it'll be the first time brothers (Dougie & Freddie) have played together for team Canada in 30 years.

Congrats to Freddie!

@Logancouture Logan Couture

Tough seeing some #67s cut from the WJ Team. Take it from a player who wasn't invited to the camp. It's about how u respond. #provethemwrong

It'll be neat to see where Freddie plays. We could use some RW's.

Oh, and yay Canada!

Next year Germany will be back in the top division after a very exciting finish to the last game. Germany needed one point against Norway to win the group and scored two goals early. However, Norway replied and scored three consecutive goals.

Later in the third period (55:05) Abeltshauser scored his first goal of the tournament to tie the game. Following two penalties against Norway, David Elsner scored two PP goals as Germany would go through the tournament undefeated.

What are you folks expecting from Doherty? His signing period is over this year in my keeper league... And I'm on the fence as to whether or not I should give him a contract.

Not surprising. Germany basically alternates between being in the top division and 2nd division every year. They can crush the 2nd division competition, but can't escape relegation when faced with the stiffer competition like Canada, the US, Russia, Sweden, Finland, etc.

Konrad Abeltshauser finished the tournament with 1g, 6a and a +10 in 7 games. He was named the Top Defenceman of the tournament.

And a quick update on Sgarbossa - he has 20 goals & 38 points in 28 games.

Was following the tournament here in Germany and must say that Abeltshauser looks great. It wasn´t the best competition he faced in the tournament and Germany just was too good (i actually think they would have stayed in the top division). But Abeltshauser just dominated his opponents. With a little bit of development time in the AHL for the next couple of seasons and he could become a good 4-6 d-man for you guys.

Freddie Hamilton just picked up a goal in a pre-tournament game for Canada vs Switzerland. Canada now leads 4-1.

Nice goal too. He took a pass as he drove to the net and pulled it backhand around the goalie before flipping it in.

Apparently Canada coach Don Hay (of my Vancouver Giants) has been raving about Freddie's performance with the team so far.

Well, you know what that means.

He'll be traded at the draft in June.

To the Bruins.

So he can play with his brother.

For SEGUIN.

If anyone's seen Hamilton's goal from yesterday, it was pretty sick. Nice hands on that kid.
