I just watched the highlights on tsn.ca didn't think it was that impressive, but they only showed one look at the goal. The TSN lady said Freddie is on the 2nd line and the line combined for 10 pts in the 7-1 win over Switzerland.

Typical Shark. Show up in a game that means nothing. He'll probably go scoreless once the real games start.

Interestingly enough, the game against Switzerland during the Olympics was the only one Thornton showed up for too.

Wrong thread, LS.

Also, does anyone have an update on Nieto?

#4 on Bob McKenzie's list of players to watch at the WJC: Charlie Coyle.

The team is on break, next game is on new years eve and is being televised. There's been a lot of talk about Nieto being the new leader of the team, being expected to step up with the loss of two of the teams best forwards. One writer compared him to Tyler Seguin, who was also over looked for the World Juniors then came back and had a huge year. No word on Nieto's injury, he miss the last two games though. Hopefully he's back by the next game, I don't think it was supposed to be serious.

One player I'm sure the Sharks must be scouting on the BU team is Sahir Gill. He went undrafted but has a ton of skill, I've heard him compared to Perron.

While looking around I found this.
http://wtbusportsradio.com/?p=9461

“I think a goal for myself heading in to this year was hitting the 20-goal mark. I really wanted to do that. After getting drafted to San Jose, I’m hoping that if I continue to have a good year that hopefully I can sign after this year.”

Gill doesn't score much though (goal wise).

He'll be getting more time now just like Nieto. The kid has some moves, he's noticeable pretty much every game and is projected to be on our new first line. To be fair, Coyle had 3 goals and the same number of points this season before bolting. Only thing Gill lacks is size.

He's skating at center today in a checking role, playing against the Granlund line. They also have him on the top PK unit.

He just earned a secondary assist on a goal on a delayed penalty, putting Canada up 3-1.

That was just an odd change + an extra forward on a delayed penalty.
Hamilton is centering Smith-Pelly & Howden.

DSP in a great one too, but Stone + Huberdeau look like Canada's best forwards.

In typical Shark fashion, James Livingston punched a ref today in the Woosta Sharks game.

Coyle scored the second goal for US, should have traded Hamilton.

One prospect writers thoughts on some of the players at the WJC yesterday including this bit about Hamilton:

Quote:
Another player for Team Canada who showed exemplary defensive skills what Sharks prospect Freddie Hamilton, who I joked on twitter today played better defense as a forward than any of Finland’s defensemen, although I don’t think I would be off by much.

It was a hell of a punch though

Linesmen at this level should know better than to jump in the middle of two guys throwing haymakers at each other epsecially when they're the only linesman in the area.

Livingston will probably be getting a phone call from the AHL today, although I suspect he won't be suspended.
