I heard that Jesse Graham is a good PMD, who skates like Ryan Murphy. Can the Devils snag him in the second round?

I'm positive that Graham will be there in the second round. Pure offensive defenseman. He is lacking in the rankings because of the lack of defensive play. But he is the best skating defenseman in the OHL. Maybe battling with Reilly, Pouliot and Dumba for best in the CHL.

How is his hockey sense? Does he use his speed to beat opponents or is it a combination of both?

From what I know he has great hockey sense, and he uses both to beat opponents. I think he hasn't gotten much time on the PP due to Dougie Hamilton coming back.

Man I remember Jordan Schmaltz in Chicago... Same with Galchenyuk... We produce some great talent in our MM teams...

Great work TG.

I have watched Matia Marcantuoni quite a bit and he has never impressed me enough to be ranked the 3rd best OHL. Maybe it's just me, but I am not as high on Matia as most scouts appear to be. The "potential" is there but eventually you have to prove that you're worthy. As of right now, I've gotGaunce and Athanasiou ahead of Matia. I want to see more from MM.

Very good rankings.

Was sort of impressed with his toughness last week to be honest. He wasn't paper thin like I expected.

Last weekend I saw on Pointstreak that he fought what turned out to be Lincoln's Mike McKee. I was told that he turtled.

I will not dispute the player's offensive talent but from what I saw at the Classic, he's pretty one dimensional. I think he netted out at -4 in those games.

You heard what else happened in that game to your "buddy" Dominick Shine?

His defense with his stick and positioning is elite. No joke. I was a doubter last year.

I've got no problem with Shine, he wasn't the issue in the "incident" I talked about...but I'm curious!

Again, I have no issue with JS's offensive skills but he's no John Carlson. IN terms of the USHL he's ranked where he should be. But let's face it, and you and I both know this, the fact is that most players in the USHL when it comes to off-ice, have to be highly self-motivated.

Shine hurt is knee, underwent surgery and is out indefinitelty. He supposedly got submarined against SC - don't know the player who did it; I've been told it's one of the three who fought and I'm sure that it wasn't Schmaltz so that leaves 2. I'm sure that we'll find out for sure the next time the two teams play...

A sidebar story to this is that, apparently, there's some grumblings in Lincoln about CJ blabbling specifics about the injury to a local radio station -right down to the type of surgery he would require and then these got reported on a blog for posterity. That's always been a hockey no-no.

Quite the polar opposite of Steve, who I don't think you could pay enough money to talk about ANYTHING during or postgame. Surprised that guy can even move his wrists anymore from all the sitting on his hands he did during games... Oh USHL hockey...

Very good rankings.
I'll go ahead and agree with this.

Also have a few comments on the Q: if you have Gamelin that high, I would like to see Alex Soumakis on the list. He's much smaller (5'6), but brings a Theo Fleury like combination of toughness, grit and offensive ability. Fleury meets Marchand.

Also, Leduc at 4 makes me cringe a bit. I'd like to see a defenseman like Culkin on future editions of this list as well. I havn't seen all of them, granted, but he sure impressed me more than Leduc.

While on the topic of Val d'Or, Shalimov has tremendous potential. Probably not enough to pass Lalancette on a draft list, but enough to be a worthy late-round gamble.

Funny...he appears to have his nephew poised to be King of the Second Assist. First with Hanson now with Roy.

Gotta ramp up those stats for the 2013 draft!!!!

McGroarty, for all of his faults and I hate to admit that I may have, on occasion, helped with one of them, was a team loyal guy.

I'm going to see them again v. GB in December. We'll see how they're playing then.

I've said for quite some time that the offensive talent in this draft is not as solid as some are claiming it to be and the stats on this thread bear me out. The defensive talent is impressive though.

You'd be hard pressed to find a skater better than Matia in this draft. On the other hand, it would be a fairly easy exercise to find one with, first, a better sense of his 2/4 other players than Matia has and overall hockey sense as well.

I'm not sold on the USHL rankings here as well but, correct me if I'm wrong, TG isn't a USHL schooled guy.

Great work though and great fodder for discussion.
