Clearly he had to keep Diaz in the lineup for his 100% faceoff efficiency.

Emelin was the easy choice to be scratched. Weber and Diaz played better than him.

And for those saying that Emelin hits, more than often he is the guy that falls and when he "delivers" a hit so dont know if we can say he has been physical.

Petteri will score a hatty and habs will win 3-2, book it.

Diaz is soft, out of position and sucks at chasing guys down on the boards.

He is only composed with the puck on his stick.

He's got the talent to be it. It's an inner drive, it's not skill.
If true, I'm not sure I understand JM's reasoning.

A big hit can simultaneously stop an offensive rush, change the momentum and strike fear in the hearts of their opponents. Understandably missing that big hit can yield the exact opposite, but it shouldn't be the sole reason for removing it from his repertoire...

I get the feeling that had he applied a few solid body checks in the last few games JM would've had to find someone else to sit this one out

That's my issue too. It's like another Bergeron in his own end sometimes.

He's good with the puck but when it's not on his stick..look out.

Really disappointed that Emelin isn't in but oh well..nothing new benching our future.

Markannen is playing. He has impressed Panthers fans with his size, and exceptional athleticism for a guy that size. In the Pekka Rinne mold. Not looking good for the Habs.

I doubt that very much.

We might see Markstrom though.

On pace for 47 goals.

I sincerely hope Spacek is on the PP. They need to stop this ridiculous 4 forward experiment. Also, if they were smart, they'd replace Desharnais with Eller on the first unit. Eller is a much more multi-faceted player than Desharnais, making him more unpredictable for the opposing pk-ers. Everyone knows that Desharnais is always thinking pass, and is not a threat to score. Eller is, and is also capable of taking the puck to the net.

But of course none of this will ever happen...

He actually put up decent numbers with the Wild last season and he had some terrific seasons with you guys (which is why I figure you guys would be a tad more grateful to him).

A friend of mine and I (eaglesmaster on this board) were joking about the stupidities martin would do in OT of the last game before it started. I predicted he wouldn't play eller at all. I was surprised to see eller in there for a defensive zone faceoff, I was stoked! Eller wins the faceoff and.... goes straight to the bench?

Funny listening to the pregame audio and people calling Spacek a "calming" influence. Why because he's 37? Sure he's a veteran but on the ice he's jittery and a total spaz. He's an ok player but you never know what your going to get with him on any given shift.

But off the ice, he calls his teammates 'pigeons'. I think I remember reading that when we first signed him.
