Maybe if we let a Canadian teams win the draft lottery, more Canadians will respect the Blue Jackets...
Nah. Never happen.
On a side note, I was saying give the #1 pick to the whole country. The post season pride of an entire country rests in the hands of a couple of creepy Swedes (assuming one of them is healthy for the post season) and a Michigan boy.

Columbus could have a team of 23 All-Star players native to Canada, and it might begin to make up for 15 years of raw sewage flowing here from there courtesy of their media.
but i really have a feeling we will take Nail first overall and trade Nash to a team within the top 6 in the lottery as well and gain their first round pick and a player (s) or pick (s) as well ... and with that pick take the BPA ( F.Forsberg/top D man ) and with the LA pick we take the best goalie available ( Subban / Dansk )
this is of course if we are trading Nash , and if he oks the deal to go to the team ...
#1 CBJ N.Yakupov RW Sarnia
#5 CBJ F.Forsberg LW Sweeden
#18 CBJ O.Dansk G Sweeden
#31 CBJ N.Ebert D Winsdor
#47 CBJ L.Sutter C Saskatoon
#61 CBJ D.Zharkov RW Belleville

I would take Vasilevski at #18 if you are taking a goalie.
My money is on the NHL "rigging" the lottery in our favor, like the did for the Penguins in 2005 (just ask any non-Penguin fan), due to the LA Kings time clock debacle. It's already been worked out with CBJ management, to keep them hush hush while the Kings get to play for the Cup.
Interesting read on Ryan Murray in the latest issue of the CHL's Prospect magazine. I know you guys don't get your hands on that, but they give them out for free before some of the games. This latest edition talks about how Ryan Murray handles himself perfectly on and off the ice, using his brain to make smart decisions on and off the ice, and how he always goes out of his way to talk about the team instead of himself. He's a leader around the younger (and older) players, and is a man of action more than words.
I'll put up some exact quotes when I get home from work later today.
After three full years of watching this kid, if we don't get Nail Yakupov, it's a real toss-up for me; I love Ryan Murray's game, though I know we will be in desperate need of offense after trading Rick Nash away.

As you already know, you just take BPA when picking that high and go from there. If we have the misfortune of missing out on the first overall and Yakupov is gone, jackets take Murray or Forsberg or whomever they deem the best player for them and if they go with Murray (who, like you, I would prefer at #2) it makes emerging youngsters like Moore and Savard (among others) eligible to be moved for forward help.

Man, I do not want anyone 'emerging' moved at all. I want quality depth and the only way to get it is to hold on to the young players who have a chance to become impact players at the NHL level.

i understand that, i was just saying that you have to take the BPA at the #2 spot and sort it out after that. you can't skip out on murray if you think he is the second best player simply because our offense is going to be much worse than our defense (like it seemed like he was suggesting). you take the best player and then if it creates a surplus of similar players in your organization, you then have the freedom to move one of them for an area of need if that's what needs to be done.
If we can somehow come out of this with Yakupov and Subban, that would be ideal for this team. Alternatively, I wouldn't be against Grigorenko and Subban.
