I like the move cause he could have some offensive spurts

So who plays LD on the 3rd pair? Stralman or Eminger?

If he is, he doesn't play, Woywitka does, and we're in the same position we were in this morning.

Does this signing mean Staal is behind schedule?

Even when Staal gets back its as good move cause it puts Eminger as the spare again likely. Depends on if Stralman does well of course

I would say that it means Staal continues to have no schedule whatsoever.

I'm fine with this move. We don't really need any help on the defensive side of the puck, put we could use help moving the puck up and out of the zone and through the neutral zone. Stralman should help with those things. I just hope this means Tortorella reduces Girardi's ice-time.

Not holding my breath on this one.

Not the most capable option in his own end, as of last I watched him.

But for the price, why not.

The problem then becomes, what if another defenseman goes down? Stralman is, for sure, a better option than say Brendan Bell.

Depth Signing. Never a bad thing.

I can't bring myself to be psyched about this.

We'll see if he produces at all for us. Del Zotto has some competition now I suppose.

Girardi's ice time is not going to go down because they signed someone to play on the 3rd pair. The top three (Girardi, McDonagh and Sauer) are going to continue to pull major minutes and the Eminger will continue to get around 16 minutes . If Stralman can provide some offense and can play well in the defensive zone, maybe Del Zotto's ice time goes down a little.

Over all, this move is not going to change much. But, that's assuming Stralman can play up to Tortorella's standards....

Anyone know if it's a one way contract?

Why? It puts Woywitka in his proper role -- #7 and an injury fill-in.

I doubt it. Del Zotto has been spectacular. Swagger is back. I would say Eminger has competition.

Just take the name off of it and let whoever is playing that night wear it.

I am sure Woywitka keeps his number and Stralman picks another.

Kind of rather have Emminger sit with how Woywitka has been playing. He's mostly been solid and even if he's a bit slow, he hasn't been exposed any more than Emminger has
