Is this true?

My first thought was Chiarelli just missed the media and wanted to reconnect... until practice got cancelled. Then my second thought was fried chicken and beer for everyone!

I don't want to come across as trying to tell anyone how to feel or anything but I really don't think it will be anything major. People have every right to worry that it's a major illness such as the Kessel cancer or Savard retirement but here's why I don't think it will be...

It's a conference call. If it was a major illness or a Savard retirement it would be a press conference. They held a press conference to announce Kessel's cancer, they held a press conference last year to announce Patrice Bergeron was out for the year, they held a press conference to announce Marc Savard was out for the year last year, and they held a press conference to announce that Marc Savard was out for the year this past summer. If it was something major of negative implications I strongly believe that it would be a press conference and not just a conference call.

i interpret this as they're just having a day off tomorrow for a "maintenance day", and it's just a routine chiarelli conference call coincidentally happening the same day.

i wouldn't worry about it until theres something announced

theyre very boring tweets, whereas most fakes (like the Marchand one) are like begging people to follow, never tweeting about mundane things like cutting grass haha

im skeptical

Tomorrow is also the halfway point of a rather long stretch without games. Maybe just a general Q&A session as to not leave the reporters with no material for almost a week?

Why would Savard retire?

Wouldnt it be more financially beneficial to announce it after his contract is up?

If it was him one of the Bruins that are actually on Twitter would have tweeted his profile and his followers would have went way up from 67.

It has to be something related to the coaching staff if there's no practice.

No, he'd get paid either way.

Reminds me of when Pat Burns announced he had cancer and had to get treatment immediately.

Stop this please. Stop speculating about Savards retirement, trades, flu, or sickness of a player or coach. This is rediculous. I dont know why but I find this very irritating and disrespectful.

Folks, think about this:

Didn't they announce last Friday, that Epstein resigned from the Cubs....well, that introduction was announced to be at Noon ET, Cherington's promotion is set for 3pm(which is why all the media nor why this is a conference call, not a press conference, bc no media members would be available any earlier, if it were major, bc all Tuesday.... probably why a 6pm time, anything that is to be announced is a footnote compared to the recent transgressions.....

It's via phone, so it's either on the order of an assistant coach being dumped, a special one hired, a minor signing, or maybe just a "we understand the concerns, but it's all okay" type thing. A phone conference doesn't line up with practice being cancelled because of the reason for the phone conference. They must be unrelated, or peripherally related, such as a day off to get their heads straight.

They cancel practice and call a press conference, how can you expect people not to speculate??
