Something up? Or just one of his fireside chats?

CanesVision recording.

If you can't watch, Mark Armstrong from WTVD tweeted some highlights.

They are consistent!! The power play is horrible every year and we are always in the running for 9th.

No other coaching staff could get so much out of Chad LaRose.

Karmanos also said they need an additional 3-4k 'really minority' owners, aka season ticket holders

The 'really minority' wording was my own in that last tweet - Karmanos didn't say that
3-4k is a hell of a lot of tickets. How many do they have now?

I believe Chip explained that earlier:

Quote:
Karmanos has said Canes season-ticket base needs to be 13,000-14,000. Said today needs to add 3,000-4,000 more season tickets.

3 to 4 k more is impossible for a fringe playoff team...and in this economy... sorry PK

That would be an incredible base. To the point of being in line with much older teams in much larger cities. I can't see it happening without several very good seasons strung together.

The 10,000 current STH number seems a little high to me. I heard it was closer to 7,500-8,000.

According to this thread, the Blackhawks and Sharks have 14,000, the Bruins have 13,000, the Preds have 11,500, the Lightning have around 10,000, and Columbus had 7,700 as of mid-summer.

IMO, it's reasonable to shoot for 10-12,000. Not so reasonable to shoot for 13-14,000. This isn't a Boston/Chicago/SF sized city nor has the entertainment value been nearly as good as the Hawks/Bruins/Sharks over the past half-decade.

we'd have to have the numbers to really see but honestly, I doubt teams that are struggling as long as their not a bigger market or have a **** team IE the panthers would have a bigger STH base

Could STH base be improved? of course but the Canes need sustained success

I bet you that the Sharks didn't have 14,000 STH before 2000...and now their in the playoffs every year..

People love winners.

But in alot of hockey markets, the owner has to make the team a winner or they have chance of leaving, like the Whalers

This team had the opportunity after the SC and they failed to hold on to the bandwagons. I think this team could get to 14k but it would require consistent playoffs. Everyone is aware the Canes are cheap and people don't want to make personal sacrifices to afford season tickets when ownership won't make the same sacrifices to make the team a success.

10,000 wouldn't surprise me if it included the 10 and 26 game season ticket holders, which, if you combine them into equivalent full season ticket packages, might be closer to 7000 or 8000.

Yeah, performances like the one at home tonight aren't exactly going to be creating a line to buy season tickets.

Not to mention, this team missed the playoffs completely controlling their destiny AT HOME twice in the past 4 years. Doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence in the team.

Of course, there's a lot less competition here too. Those Boston and Chicago both have MLB, NFL, NBA, and MLS teams. Here we're only competing against college.
