I know it's only October, but the kind of weird thing is that if we win this game we will have 7 points in 7 games. Hard to believe that we would be on a point-per-game pace, no matter how deceiving it is. I do think however that this has the potential to be a huge game. Sometimes winning the final game of a road trip can erase the mental strain that goes along with the failures of previous games. If we win this one and head home and find some momentum at home (albeit against solid teams) we could be on the right track again, or at least tread water until Erat and Fisher get back.....no matter how skeptical I am of the Erat injury.
On the flip side, we lose this game and complete the trifecta or fail on the road trip and meet an always dangerous Sharks team at home, followed by Tampa. Could spell a disastrous October.
This is a very winnable game, and an even bigger one. I hope to see Pekka in there, especially with the essentially three-day break after this game. It can be done. Just don't get outworked, and play smart.
Today we see how Weber reacts to his wrist slap from the league. Hopefully it sent the message that he needs to keep his head on straight and stay focused ... stupid penalties are killing this team and having our captain take them so often is unacceptable. Ekholm got called out then sent down ... we'll see how the rest of the team reacts to that message from Trotz and Poile ... perform or lose your roster spot.
With how the offense has performed lately we need to sit McGrattan if O'Reilly is able to play ... roll four lines that can go and not 3.66667. Toots was Toots again at Van, he needs to keep that up. We need Cube healthy enough to serve as a vet presence on the 3rd pair for a while to settle the kids down.
At least it's an early game so I can stay up for it.
