I need to remind myself not to read the boards of other teams however, nice to read a Devil fan found it difficult not to laugh at him. I couldn't picture myself finding it funny if it happened to Lapierre, and I downright despise the guy.
The game where Lappy took the puck to the face, the Devils "fans" were laughing at him and cheering. I almost got into my first fight ever over that, I was livid, screaming at everyone. I boo opposing fans/teams as much as anyone, but I don't want anyone to get hurt. That's just classless.
So it begins we are up agianst the cap pronger gone for 2-3 weeks hope we dont suffer anymore injuries until chris returns or we are in cap hell.Homer needs to make a move or two i give hartnell a pass after his play last night but once chris returns homer needs to free up some cap space............
I thought if he goes on IR, his cap hit disappears during that time?
I thought that was the purpose of the injured reserve list, well for that and the roster spot.
With the number of significant eye injuries the Flyers have had over the years, I was expecting very bad news. Very glad that it looks like it won't be a permanent problem for Pronger.
One of these days, the league is going to smarten up and make visors mandatory. It may not have prevented Pronger's injury, but I don't see how your eyesight is worth risking.

I question whether it would have even been worth it to get in a fight over a highly paid professional athlete who doesn't even know you exist.
Remember this dialog from a Bronx Tale:
"How much does your father make? If your dad ever can't pay the rent and needs money, go ask Mickey Mantle. See what happens. Mickey Mantle don't care about you."

What in the sam hell are you talking about?

And we shouldn't have gone into WWII because most of America didn't know, personally, anyone who died at Pearl Harbor

Still not a cap problem. LTIR "removes" the cap money. This is an Ed Snider's balance sheet issue only.
Not at all. LTIR only provides cap relief for the portion of the salary of the injured player's replacement that exceeds the cap; it doesn't remove a salary from the cap. As well, using LTIR for a significant amount of time during a season messes with the amount you can bank towards pro-rated cap space later in the year, helpful to add salary at the trade deadline.

LTIR is not the same as being able to remove a salary entirely due to retirement. If the 35+ rule didn't apply to freak accidents, Lappy would have filed retirement papers, and we'd be in a better cap position, especially in the off-season.

Dude you're weird. It's not about that, it's about someone being such scum that they infuriate you enough to make you want to punch them. I'm not hot-headed at all, hence why I've never been in a fight.

Jay Greenberg: Flyers awfully optimistic about Pronger timetable
Greenberg typically offers very compelling and cogent commentary ...this one is no less sobering. I agree and mentioned it up thread..until they can assess the eye in the coming days we need to remain cautious..whether cautiously optimistic or awfully optimistic.
Let's hope for the best b/c we can't afford the blowback this will cause if he is unable to continue his career in whatever manner..
Pray...
Quote:
Until the last veteran covers his face with a shield, the most horrifying sight in hockey remains the player going up the runway with a towel covering his face. Pain thresholds of hockey players being what they are, you know it’s not likely the cheekbone, nose or teeth, but the eye. So you begin to pray for that millimeter’s difference that will determine whether or not a player has a career remaining.
The Flyers apparently have been given reason to believe Chris Pronger still does, but experience suggests initial diagnoses of eye traumas are as blurry as was the defenseman’s initial vision in the locker room. (See story.)
The "Banana Man" Simmonds song parody? Alot of people thought that was freakin' awesome. I guess you didn't? Sorry I engage in conversation on some of the hot threads on the Board. I thought that was what a FanBoard was for. Guess I'm mistaken. I apologize to those whom I offended.
Wouldn't hang my hat on the Flyers medical staff and what is filtered through management...we've been burned countless times. Having said this we have nothing else to go by unless some legit independent sources which are hard to corroborate say something otherwise. Again...prudent to be cautiously optimistic but not naive given historical precedence with this organization and serious injuries. Let's hope they are being forthcoming and not engaging in perception management. Last year the whole wrist thing with Pronger wasn't exactly transparent...
