Man, I was there tonight and it scared the crap out of me. Whenever you see a professional freak out like that, it's a scary sight, because you know something serious is going on. Nothing will be as bad as being there for Lappy's puck to the face and him freaking out in the middle of the ice during the Devils series. That memory is burnt into my mind...horrible.
I still remember the game we lost Barry Ashbee. His reaction on the ice was chilling to say the least. Bernie's was not as violent. I know there is some kind of unwritten code where the tough guys do not ware shields but you only have two eyes and you are done in the NHL if you lose one. Screw that I would make them all ware one. When you fight just take your helmet off and go to town.
The "Banana Man" Simmonds song parody? Alot of people thought that was freakin' awesome. I guess you didn't? Sorry I engage in conversation on some of the hot threads on the Board. I thought that was what a FanBoard was for. Guess I'm mistaken. I apologize to those whom I offended.
Didn't Chris Pronger elbow your windshield or something?
With the number of significant eye injuries the Flyers have had over the years, I was expecting very bad news. Very glad that it looks like it won't be a permanent problem for Pronger.
One of these days, the league is going to smarten up and make visors mandatory. It may not have prevented Pronger's injury, but I don't see how your eyesight is worth risking.
I question whether it would have even been worth it to get in a fight over a highly paid professional athlete who doesn't even know you exist.
Remember this dialog from a Bronx Tale:
"How much does your father make? If your dad ever can't pay the rent and needs money, go ask Mickey Mantle. See what happens. Mickey Mantle don't care about you."
You were one of the writers for that movie and I guess that was one of the lines you wrote.
As soon as the injury happened I didn't care about the outcome of the game, all I was worried about was Pronger. I automatically got flashbacks to Bryan Berard.
I'll be on here a lot in the next few weeks.
I heard on TSN last night that he lost vision, bleeding in the eye. Oh god, no.
Berard lost his vision as there was bleeding in his eye. Bryan's eye is a lot smaller then his other eye.
Mikhail Grabovski must feel horrible. I know he didn't mean to do it but still he must feel horrible.
eh, who can I follow from Philly (who works for the Flyers) on Twitter to get the latest updates on Chris?
Get Well Soon Pronger from Leafs Nation
You my friend are all class, it is refreshing to see an opposing teams fan show legit concern much appriciated, cheers bruv
What's the latest news on Chris? I didn't see how his eye looks, how bad is it?

All early indications show signs of progress and improvement. The reports are that the doctor was pleased and Pronger's vision has improved. He is going to be seen every day for the next three days.

It's called principles, get some.
Wait sorry no, you'd rather just argue with someone over the internet.
Remember this dialog from Wayne's World:
"Garth Algar: Benjamin is nobody's friend. If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he'd be pralines and dick."

Why would someone want to potentially get arrested and put their family in danger because some fans want to be knuckleheads for a player that doesn't care about you? Come on. Lets have some perspective here.

That's good to hear. Did Chris totally lose his vision as TSN reported? He's not having blurred vision, what percentage of his vision does he have? That's it, he's only going to see the Dr. daily for the next 3 days.
Did TV stations show his eye, how bad does it look?

I haven't seen any images and doubt any were taken or released for the public (by the media, team or medical staff). I'm not sure a fan could snap a shot considering Pronger's hand covered the eye. Pronger was scheduled to visit the doctor for four straight days, today will be the second day in order to measure progress. I don't think Pronger had complete loss, he complained of blurred vision and then a later report said his perception improved.
^ The 2-to-3 weeks speculation probably indicates rejoining the team more so than playing. That could all change depending on what the doctor(s) determine the next few days.
Kings fan here. That was a downright scary injury, especially coming from a nothing play like that. Good to hear that he's making progress. Hope he has a complete and speedy recovery.
Making "progress" doesn't tell me crap.....it can mean anything..like that the swelling is going down (eye is stabilizing) so they can assess the eye better or that he is in less pain etc etc. We will have to wait to hear something a bit more definitive because eye trauma can be tricky...
