Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College- Flat out, best LB prospect in the draft this year. Good speed, fantastic instincts, high IQ and a great tackler. Top half of the first round is where his talent says he should go, but LBs aren't valued very highly.
Eric Page, WR, Toledo- I think at his top end, could be an Antonio Brown type player. Good game speed. By all accounts needs to work on his ball security. If all goes well, he'll figure in as a slot guy. Too early to tell with these types of players where exactly, but he's a 3rd day pick.
Bernard Pierce, RB, Temple- Good between the tackles guy, got shut down when playing top competition though. Concussions are always a worrisome injury. Great season, though it was against some poor competition. Probably 5th rounder or so.
Josh Robinson, DB, Central Florida- This guy has a chance to rocket up boards after his combine and pro day. Another guy with great wheels. He has some solid measurables. Right now he's probably a late 3rd day pick, but he can change that in a hurry.
Marcus Forston, DL, Miami Hurricanes- Good athlete with some solid potential, but he definitely has some durability concerns. In the 3-4 range.
Bryce Brown, RB, Kansas State- What a disaster this kid's college career has been. He has the talent to be a good RB, but he has pretty much 0 experience. He'll get a shot with somebody as a UDFA.
Orson Charles, TE, Georgia- Should probably stay for his senior year. Great playmaking threat who is a nightmare match up wise, but his blocking needs a lot of work. Having said that, he's still a 3rd rounder.
David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech- Wheels for days. I only really see him as a change of pace back. Don't figure his ability to run between the tackles translates to the NFL. People have him in the 2-3 range, but I'd value him closer to the 5th.
thanks a lot for the replies! I don't have time to follow college football as much as I would like to. Can't wait for Path to the Draft to start.
wondering about those seniors as well
Jeff Demps, RB, Florida
Brandon Bolden, RB, Ole Miss
Davin Meggett, RB, Maryland

Jermaine Kearse, WR, Washington
Phillip Payne, WR, UNLV
Damarlo Belcher, WR, Indianna
Ladarius Green, TE, Louisiana-Lafayette
Jacquies Smith, DE, Missouri
Darius Nall, DE/LB, Central Florida
Alameda Ta’amu, DT, Washington
Mike Martin, DT, Michigan
Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State
Chris Marve, LB, Vanderbilt
Leonard Johnson, CB, Iowa State
Donnie Fletcher, CB, Boston College
Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia
George Iloka, S, Boise State
Blair Walsh, K, Georgia
Bernard Pierce before the season was being talked about as a low 1, high 2. If he's around in the 5th round, I'd love for the Saints to get him. I'm not convinced Pierre Thomas will be back next year.

I see him more in the Ivory mold. Not sure he'd help replace Thomas.

I dunno man, I don't think we're getting another RB.
I see us getting DT, OT, OLB, MLB, CB, SS and TE.
Depending on who's available, I have a feeling that will be our draft position wise, but who knows.

I'd like to see Charles Brown get a chance considering he was a 2nd round pick just 2 years ago. Instead Zach Strief no longer had to keep reporting that he was eligible.

The problem is, I dont think Brown is going to be a LT in the NFL. He's far too light weight wise, and not only that, he's injury prone.
2nd season in a row his season ended on IR (IIRC).
Regardless, this is Bushrod's last season as a Saint. A probowl year this year, and at worst an average year this coming year, he'll get a massive payday on free agency, and considering we pay our OG's more than our OT's, I think it's a given he's gone.
Streif is already 30 as is too, and cannot be a LT in the NFL.
Anyway we look at it, we need another OT. I wouldn't be shocked if an OT was a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Which I'm fine with.
Vikes have needs at pretty much every position, but at least have one competent NFL player under 30 in Harvin at WR. In the entire secondary? Not so much. Maybe Cook, but that depends on if he stays out of prison or not... and then if he isn't cut for being a total thug.
I guess I missed this, but that's pretty much the argument I tried to make for Carolina, but you dismissed it. I do think Blackmon will be a better WR than Claiborne will be a CB though.

Choosing between Blackmon and Claiborne depends on which one you believe is more capable of reaching his maximum potential.
If you compare the top WR in the game today, Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald type guys versus the top CB in the game like Revis, Asomougha, Bailey, I know that if I had a choice, I would take a top end CB over a top end WR.
A top end CB (cover corner) allows you so much more flexibility with your defensive schemes. Having a shutdown corner allows your defense to basically go man to man against the opposition's best WR and allows you to utilize your safeties to help stop the run or double cover the other WR or TE.
Also depends if you have a good QB. A team with a Bradford/Newton, you can probably get by with good, not great WR. I mean, how many of the GB and NO WR are top end talents? When you have a Brees/Rodgers throwing the ball, you don't need Fitzgerald to catch the ball.
Much easier to draft good WR in the middle rounds than it is to draft good CB in the middle rounds. A team's 3 and 4 WR is usually better than the #3 and #4 CB of the defense.

You still don't seem to get it.
Any team drafting for immediate need is stupid. The best teams draft the best player available for down the road, not to start immediately.
You said drafting a WR would be stupid because the Panthers have Steve Smith... a 30+ year old WR. WR isn't am immediate need, but will become an immediate need as soon as Smith slows down, so the time to plan ahead is now. Simple concept, suprised it is so difficult for you.
Now you are saying passing on Claiborne for Blackmon is a bad idea. All depends on which player the team grades out higher. The secondary is a dire and immediate need for the Vikings. If Claiborne and Blackmon are comparable prospects, then it would he foolish to pass on a CB for a WR. If Blackmon is clearly better, then absolutely take him.
I don't really want us taking a QB that high just because he is the best option at that position. We have other weaknesses we could address with better players at that spot.
Just because the Hawks need a long term answer at QB doesn't mean they're going to draft one. I'd rather look at FA while waiting for the guy they really want. Meanwhile draft a big, pissed off edge rusher.
