Mostly in jest since it's not actually a knee-jerk reaction.

Edit: And somehow Stajan didn't even deserve the honor of having his full name.

Nobody. Unless someone is slacking off in practice and needs to be. Smith has outplayed the Anton so far, so until Anton gets hungry and starts impressing the coaching staff he can sit.

Sarich looked rough last night. But bench him and replace him with Anton? An Anton/Smith pairing would be gobbled up at the NHL level so Sarich stays

None of the above. The answer is Sarich. Stupid penalties again and he has looked like crap. Babchuk should be dressed and QBing the PP.

lol. How about no.

Sarich deserves to be benched for his play last game, but not at the expense of dressing The Anton - who has been terrible in every game so far.

I wanted Iginla, but it wasn't an option. Iginla has been so freaking brutal in his own end the last two years...

Finally some one else who has noticed this. Although I would not want him benched.
I would like to see if anybody even notices Iginla fight for the puck along the boards in the defensive zone.
His favourite spot is hanging around the blue line.

Also don't be suprised to see a D man traded before the weekends out. The D man is to complete a deal already in the works.

He still does, but it's very sporadic. Sometimes he goes in and digs it out, other times he decides to wait for someone to dig it out for him. This year he's been horrendous, but normally he's just pretty average for a scoring forward; not the kind of guy you'd rely on to backcheck, but I've definitely seen worse. Sutter shouldn't be putting him out in the defensive zone anyway.

I want to know when the hell they're sending Horak down so the kid can play some more. I'm okay with him not being on the big team this year, but don't waste his time as a healthy scratch.

Iginla hasn't nearly been as bad as he was in 08. Last year, Iginla was significantly better in both ends.

What!? He's been our best defenseman! If we're going to win games, we need to ice the best possible roster

He's been solid playing sheltered minutes, but to say he has been our best dman (Gio says hello) is a stretch IMO. I'm not trying to knock him at all because he's done well, but he is a newbie and knowing Sutter its a matter of time before he goes with a veteran core.

To the people who answered Stajan:

Do you really think he deserves to be benched, or is this just the constant Stajan hate surfacing? He may not be getting the points we'd like, but he's been a solid defensive guy, and he's winning face-offs. We're already weak at center, benching him would just make it worse.

Count me as another vote for none of the above.

Get Backlund healed up, get Moss back on the 3rd line wing where he belongs, and Bob's your mother's brother.

Why isn't Kosto in this poll? He should be the first to get the boot after PL3.

So, our top defenseman, who eats up 25+ minutes a night, should be benched? Who takes his spot?

We have no one capable of taking his place. Bench him, and we'd be letting in 5+ goals a game.

Its no wonder why we keep losing if Jay-Bo continues being the top D lol.

All joking aside though, the team just doesn't have the quality to be a good contender. Iggy isn't really at the point in his career where he can carry teams on his back for entire seasons, Jbo isn't anywhere near the star calibre dman we assumed he would be and the team lacks chemistry as a whole. The attack is not fluid, the transition sucks (most of the time) and our defensive play really isn't anything special.

I get what you're saying. I just find it mind boggling that someone thinks benching Jaybo would be a plus.

Its not a plus, if anything it doesn't change anything.

With Jaybo = Loss
Without Jaybo = Loss

But what if...
Jaybo after benching = Win
