A-Mac and Hamonic

They seriously need to pick it up, their start of the season has been very weak, and if we want to stop this losing stretch, they need to play better. Compared to what we saw from them last season, this is below acceptable!

have to agree...both are nowhere close to performance levels of last year. A-mac maybe gets a bit of a pass with the hip but both showing judgement lapses that shouldnt be.

Watching the game tonight, this did not even come close to the worst of our problems. I think they were more solid than the S and S pair.

Macdonald isn't 100% yet, Hamonic has struggled a bit but he is a kid learning to play D in the NHL. I would like to see one of them paired with Streit.

Compared to last year the team does not seem as fast, gritty and determined.
It really looks like they coast out there instead of battling for every puck and backchecking...

It's no one player, one pairing, or one line.

As tonight's game clearly indicated, the team is simply half a step too slow on every play.

They ALL need to pick up their game, big time .... instead of looking at one another waiting for someone else to step up.

it's not the lines, it's not whether the players were brought along too fast or too slow, it's not whether there's enough grit, or speed, or whether he's better on left wing instead of right wing.

the team isn't talented enough.

up and down the line-up, the opponents are typically FAR more talented.

If all goes well, they can win a few games.
It'll take 90-95 pts to make the playoffs.

You can give it time, show patience, ask for Konopka, talk about how Mottau, Rolston, etc aren't good enough - well, newsflash, that was true before the season started.

To expect different results is insane or at least delusional.

I'm thinking anyone would have problems when you're hemmed in your own zone 80% of the game and can't maintain any offense.

I've always thought that Hamonic and MacDonald are WAY overrated by people in here. After the first period the whole team blew versus the Pens (aside from JT).. I'm starting to feel real bad for Tavares.. it's gotta be frustrating to be the only forward capable of making something happen.

Nielsen, Okposo and Grabner = 3G and 1A TOTAL for the year.

Bailey, Comeau and Roulston = 2A TOTAL for the year.

How are A-Mac and Hamonic a bigger problem than this?

Thank G-d Montoya has played well!

Our ENTIRE 2nd and 3rd lines have produced 3G and 3A in SEVEN GAMES!!!

We could be playing Haley, DeBenedetto and Konopka and gotten that production; at least those three would throw a bodycheck or two . . .

Maybe we should bench the entire second line tomorrow night and the entire third line the next game.

I disagree with a lot of this. Tavares was the main cause of the second goal last night, it was his turnover on the rush. I think Cappy agrees with what I saw, because he benched that line for a few minutes aferwards. Also, how are we overrating these players. MacDonald was a 6th round pick who has come up and become a very dependable defensive defenseman with some offense. Hamonic has been highly regarded by many fans OUTSIDE of Islander's boards. He was a key defender on WJC teams and his junior teams, averaging pretty much a point a game and providing grittiness to every team he's been on. Nobody was calling him the next Denis Potvin, just excited about the type of prospect he is, and by the fine rookie season he had.

I don't think MacDonald and Hamonic are problems, they've played pretty well. They've slumped along with the team during these three losses. BUT, this teams problem is scoring and a lack of grit. The grit part is not a problem with Hamonic.
