Tambellini and Renney

Both Tambellini and Renney need to go. Since Tambellini was hired, the team has finished in the lottery 3 out of 4 seasons. This is Renney's 2nd season and they could finish 30th again.

Should Tambellini be fired? Should Renney be fired? Both? Neither?

IIRC their contracts are both up at the end of this year, no?

Anyhow, I don't see Renney getting the boot unless Tambo gets the boot, and that wouldn't be until the off season.

They both have to go. This franchise needs a new philosophy.

They both need to be fired. Also Lowe needs to be canned, Laforge can leave. I am just sick of the losing culture in management.

We need to start fresh and put an end to this losing management era. Fresh faces need to be brought in starting at the top.

Katz should give Jim Irsay a call for some tips! Lowe, Tambellini and Renney should all be fired, following this season. Not re-assigned, FIRED! Not sure who's available to replace them, but surely Katz can find better. The Oilers need exceptional management and coaching to compete over the long-term.

I was on the Tambellini only side before but it looks like Renney is close to losing the Oilers. Perhaps offer him a demotion to assistant or something. When the Oilers were on their great streak, NYR fans were saying how great of a coach he was, so I'm sure there's still some value to be had with him. He probably wouldn't accept a demotion, though.

Give them both an ultimatum. Improve this team before the trade deadline or your both gone.

Tambellini would then trade MPS and Petry for veterans on short term deals. An ultimatum is not the way to go. I'd fire Renney and have Lowe be the interim coach and let Tambo "resign" before the draft.

If those rumours about Tambellini turning down a 1 year extension are true (not saying they are) then it would be prudent to cut ties with him right now and let Lowe take over as interim GM until the summer. If Tambellini isn't going to be here next year (oh please, oh please) then I don't know why we're basically letting him run the show for the rest of the year.

Hopefully Lowe has to approve any trades or contracts.

Wow... it's so bad that we're at the point we hope Lowe will help keep the ship afloat.

Disagree. Putting pressure on Tambellini and Renney will only make them base decisions on the short term only. We'll have good prospects traded for veterans without getting value, and Renney would probably put our young guys out there for 30+ mins a night.

For all of Lowe's fault as GM he never seemed to have problems assembling decent defences and that's our biggest need right now.

Sad part...............?

The sad part is that I don't see any improvement in the team as the year progresses.

New Jersey, Florida, Ottawa even Colorado has shown improvement over last year but we (Oilers) are still around 29th, 30th (if not for Columbus).

Tambellini got rid of the training staff because of all the injuries, so it's time to tie the can to the GM and the Coach!!!

Lowe is one of Katz's best friends and heroes. There's no way that's happening.

Renney and Tambellini disappearing is a start. I doubt that the latter works in the NHL ever again.

I thought of that as I made the post.

Besides that lousy bit of judgement his track record on defences is pretty good. His teams couldn't score and didn't have any high end offensive talent for most of his GM tenure but they could defend for the most part.

I'm not saying that Lowe is the solution; because he isn't.

I was thinking the exact thing same earlier. He better enjoy his (hopefully) last two months here, because he won't be working for a while, certainly never in a GM capacity.
