We miss Ehrhoff

Salo & Sulzer (only one game but) are doing their jobs
Edler = adequate
Hamhuis - give him a few more games
Ballard - subpar
Alberts - subpar
Bieksa - sub-subpar

That's 3 NHL Dmen and 10m in fail, and Hamhuis

-------------------------------------------------

We believed we needed someone with muscle in the top 6. Whatelse we need is someone who can dangle the puck in the top 6, it's just too predictable.
Sedins - they are 1 dimensional atm.
Kesler - flying solo. Linemates? what linemates
Booth - seems like we paid an extra $2.5m to get a version of Raymond that goes to the net

Lol yeah I seem to remember you and me discussing Bieksa in the past. Good to see someone giving him a fair shake.

I'm so glad I didn't watch the game. I would be raging.

I'm not going to say anything specifically about the game, but just from the score it's clear it's not a problem with Luongo (not that he's helping much, but it's not to be blamed on 1 person)

This team needs a mental shakeup. Sadly, it's exactly what everybody predicted coming off an emotionally draining cup run and a short off season.

I don't have any doubts that they'll turn it around, but I fear they'll be hovering around .500 going into Christmas time.

I thought Salo had an off game tonight. I noticed a couple defensive mistakes and that's pretty rare for him.

I really feel the whole team is suffering a letdown from the playoffs. The Sedins are nowhere playing to their capabilities and the D is running around like their heads are cut off and can't hit the wide side of the barn.

Not really. 10 games in last year he was a +1, this year he's a -9. That's an extra ES goal per game he's been on for compared to this point last season.

10 games in, and Bieksa has been on for 38% as many ES GA as he was all last season. That's not to say that's entirely his doing, but he's certainly performing much worse than he did to begin last season.

After a shorter offseason I thought this team would be able to play cohesively sooner and avoid some of this notorious October garbage -- how wrong I was.

I hate watching this team right now, I've watched them for so long though that I don't know how to stop. Lol

Still confident they can turn it around, even though 90% of the team looks like crap. They should be having a serious team meeting about taking the game seriously and playing with intensity. I hate watching piss poor efforts.

As an ex-Bieksa hater, he's been piss poor this season.

It's only 10 games though, 72 to go. Bieksa is definitely is a guy that needs to have a partner set in stone to be effective. It's quite a strategic plan though. Might pay-off long-term.

Although, I will go on record to say if Luongo had let in that 2nd goal, many would have said that would have been the straw in the camel's back. As I say that, Schneider says the exact same thing.

Look, let's stop just naming scapegoats. That includes Ehrhoff, Luongo, Bieksa or anyone.

When a defence is rolling it is a team defence. Right now our forwards are releasing way too fast and there is no puck support. It's too easy to see a couple of broken plays and blame one dude for it.

I also think that there's a simple cure for our ills - drive the net. For example, Edler's breakaway a couple of games ago against the Rangers, he peeled off and missed the rebounds. Tonight he followed his chance in and got another scoring chance.

Also, when you drive the net, usually you are dragging both defencemen and the center with you, so they won't be giving up as many odd-man rushes against.

The one positive I can take away from the game tonight is that non of you reactionary "chicken little"s actually run this team.

on a side note, losing 3-0 to STL really takes the sails out of the 3-2 Loss to the Oilers where they thought they played well.

I think there was one after the 7th game and after/around the Chicago game.

At least that I knew of.

Fair enough, but he was still the same mistake-riddled player last year at this time. His better numbers were likely due to the rest of the team, including the goaltender, playing better than they are now.

Losing Ehrhoff has ruined our entire system. In order to have the defence pinching and creating offense they have to have that skill. It has ruined the first powerplay unit as I expected, I mean we let one of the best skating d-men in the NHL leave when they are almost impossible to find. Losing Ehrhoff and being so soft up front are killers.

I agree. This is one thing I really would like to see the team do more of. Right now they're being boxed out and taking way too many garbage perimeter shots.
