I want more NCAA hockey and I need your help

Perhaps we can put together a bit of a brain dump to figure out how we can watch more NCAA hockey.

I have Verizon Fios at home currently and have the sports pack (NHLN, Redzone, etc) but that doesn't buy me a lot of opportunity. Anyone keep up with NCAA games and watch online/TV/anything?

How much hockey does the Big 10 network have? Some good teams in there, I would imagine that once football is over they show a bunch.

College hockey is pretty low on my list of interests (in terms of leagues), but there does seem to be a few channels that occasionally carry college hockey games. ESPNU comes to mind.

There's also word about a college hockey package launching in January for Versus, likely under the new 'NBC Sports Network' re-branding.

I don't totally get why you'd want to watch college hockey over professional minor, CHL, or even European leagues, though.

B10 has some, most of the times with Minnesota. CBS Sports Network (formerly CBS College Sports) has a bunch too, and would show the Beanpot tournament especially BU vs BC

I don't have Fios so I'm not sure if it has the fox sports regional channels like Directv, but some of them show college games.

I was looking this up, specifcally the AHL, which I wanted to do anyways because I wanted to watch Norfolk games and keep tabs on our guys.

LOOK AT THIS INSANITY:

If you want to watch a single game, it'll be $6.99
Want to watch your team's away games? $124.99
Want to watch your team's home AND away games? $199.99
Or you can watch ALL of the games for the low price of $399.99

I mean, really?

It it crazy how much they want. I don't know who is paying those prices.

As for knowing how the guys in Norfolk are doing, just do what everyone else does. Look at their stats, and just start making irresponsibly bold predictions about their potentials, and how they play.

If you have ESPNU they show a game every now and then.

Or get somebody to promote the Ice Bulls. Never hear anything about them, ever.

They're not NCAA though. They're NCHA Division 3 (Division VI).

Basically. UCF is one of the elite teams of M3, and they play their home games at like 11:30 at night.

Damn, didn't realize that NCAA was specified, misread. Thought it just said college. Still though, Bulls games are entertaining, sometimes even in a good way. Be nice to see them getting a little more publicity.

ACHA, that is.

3 of the top 5 teams in the South are Florida teams (UCF, FGCU and UF). Interestingly UF plays in Jacksonville.

Big Ten Network shows games after football season is done. Usually it's Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan vs. whoever they happen to be playing though. ESPNU shows the odd game here and there but other than that I don't know. Only time I make it a point to watch NCAA games is during the Frozen Four.

Do you get the Fox College Sports channels in that sports pack? They usually have 2-5 games a weekend featuring Minnesota, Denver, North Dakota, Michigan, Michigan State and others.

I do, but it feels like its more d2/d3 football reruns than NCAA hockey, like I give a flying **** about d3 ball.

Hopefully the Frozen Four in Tampa, Fla., on April 5 and 7, 2012 does better than the Notre Dame Xmas college hockey tourney did here a few years ago

I'm sure it will. I'm pretty excited for it since it's probably my only chance to see good college hockey live. The USF games are just glorified beer league games.

NCAA is just as good as the CHL, and both are far more entertaining than minor and European leagues. That's why the World Juniors are so great. It's too bad there isn't some kind of series between the best CHL and NCAA teams. But NCAA players are older so I guess it wouldn't really be fair.

Besides, marching band music and lewd chants beat the hell out of the latest Ke$ha song.

Whenever I go to Ohio, Miami games are a must. It's too bad Columbus doesn't have the USHL anymore though. The USHL game I went to was more entertaining than the Blue Jackets game I saw the night before.

Too bad Florida doesn't have junior hockey or real college hockey.

U serious? Why do so many professional players come out of juniors compared to the NCAA then?

College teams can't even get their rink sizes the same.
