Makes sense on Methot, 1857H.

Unless you were all over this guy leading up to the season and you were predicting a breakout and he'd surprise and he's ready and whatnot, I'd guess you're OK with this. The only thing that pisses people off more than the team's or a player's poor performance is being wrong.

Anyway Savard didn't look bad but he didn't stand out, either, and with Wisniewski back, he seems the most redundant - given that Clitsome and Russell aren't being sent down or away any time soon. And Moore has looked pretty much as good/bad as Savard, so, again, this makes the most sense.

As long as he can keep playing in the AHL, we know how hockey is. He could be back up as soon as somebody is hurt. Gotta hope for continued progress.

Meh. I stand by my thoughts after the preseason he had but I also believe the demotion was warranted because...

What it ultimately comes down to is, IMO, he earned the 7th defenseman spot in training camp but he didn't keep it. He let Johnson and now Moore take it from him. He's still my favorite prospect and I still think he can breakout this year if he gets another chance.

Actually, it looks like the demotion will just be for tonight.

#CBJ D David Savard will play for Springfield tonight. He'll be immediately recalled and will join the Jackets in Buffalo.

Looks like a real move could come this weekend.

@Aportzline #CBJ D Marc Methot (broken thumb) could join the club this weekend.

Hey, I was right there with you too. We both dropped the ball on this

He could still be demoted if Moore continues playing well and Methot comes back from his injury. So there's hope for us yet...

Moore looks really good and especially he is great skater. NHL is for Johny Moore IMO better than AHL because of his play.

What looks good is your English MT, I can tell it is very much improved from a few years ago.

And for Savard, not really surprising, it's the right move at the moment.

Springfield was really hurting for defensemen:

Quote:
Meanwhile, the Falcons face a shortage on defense because their struggling parent club, the Columbus Blue Jackets, has had its troubles doubled by injuries to two backliners.

The Jackets finally do have big-ticket signee James Wisniewski back from an eight-game suspension imposed by the NHL for excessive roughness in an exhibition game, but they have lost Radek Martinek and Marc Methot to injuries.

The Falcons had hoped the Jackets could send them David Savard, one of Springfield’s top rookies last season. However, when the injuries hit, the Falcons instead lost John Moore on emergency recall to Columbus. And, to compound the problem, the Birds must play without Cody Goloubef, who has a bad shoulder.

So what will Riley do about his defensive alignment for the Manchester game?

“Pray for rain,” he said.

http://www.masslive.com/sports/index...tting_blu.html
But some good news on the horizon:

Quote:
Defenseman Theo Ruth and forward Tomas Kubalik won’t play in Manchester, but could be back from injuries by Friday’s home game against Hershey.

Bump.

Surprised no one posted this already, but looks like we know why Lebda was signed.

@aportzline: #CBJ D David Savard sent to AHL Springfield.

Yikes...

Lebda is pretty awful. Scared of ruining Savard? I only ask because surely he'd be better served getting more experience in the NHL.

I mean, Lebda is really bad...

Can't be worse than Howson.... Lebda will our #2 defenseman by February 1st or bust...

Sounds like a Troo Jacket:

FLAWS: Lacks size and isn't physical at all. Lacks defensive consistency and can make bad decisions in the defensive zone.

I dont understand, we need to develop our youngs like Savard or Goloubef and not sign players like Lebda. We wont play in PO.

Let Savard play well in Springfield. This season isn't getting better.

I like what I'm reading about Lebda. Not physical, a deceptive lack of speed, turns the puck over and makes poor choices.

Seriously. Keep Savard as far away from here until September. They should resign Scott LaChance and let Moore play in Springfield as well.

Lebda's not that bad.
And Savard's not that good (yet).

You can say that again lol.

We certainly had enough of him in Toronto during his brief stint to last us a lifetime .

PS. Jacketfan, you say Brett Lebda isn't that bad, have you watched him play at all? I watched him play 41 games for Toronto, he was terrible.

He should fit in fine in the land of misfit defenseman then.

Didn't read that way, lol.

Oh well, I'm just a tad sad that Savard is getting the short end of the stick and of all people, it's for Lebda .

Saw this move coming, Savard is too slow to be effective at the NHL level right now. He really needs to work on his speed.

I wrote it a time ago. Savard can play succesful in AHL but he doesnt have so good his assets to replace his slow. But the true is that we could call Theo Ruth (Cody Goloubef is injured or after injury, Nick Holden is after injury) and not sign Lebda.
