Senators @ Pittsburgh | 7:00 p.m. | Sportsnet East

vs.
Game time: 7:00 p.m. (SNET-E)

Location:

CONSOL Energy Centre

Penguins lineup

Chris Kunitz – Sidney Crosby (who?) – Pascal Dupuis
Steve Sullivan – Evgeni Malkin – James Neal
Matt Cooke – Jordan Staal – Tyler Kennedy
Arron Asham – Richard Park – Craig Adams

Kris Letang – Brooks Orpik
Paul Martin – The Lesser Michalek
Matt Niskanen – Deryk Engelland

M-A Fleury or Brent Johnson

Injuries:
Ben Lovejoy (busted arm)
Brian Strait (no, I don’t know who he is either)

Sens lineup
Colin Greening – Jason Spezza – Milan Michalek
Nick Foligno – Stephane Da Costa – Daniel Alfredsson
Kaspars Daugavins – Zack Smith – Erik Condra
Zenon Konopka – Jesse Winchester – Bobby Butler

Filip Kuba – Erik Karlsson
Jared Cowen – Sergei Gonchar
Chris Phillips – Brian Lee

Craig Anderson

Injuries:
Peter Regin (shoulder)
Matt Carkner (knee surgery)
Chris Neil (ankle)

Quick notes:
  • The reason we call them Da Pens is because they’ll crap their pants (say it out loud if you don’t get it.)
  • In an unforeseen scheduling quirk, the Sens have a game today. Sens haven’t played since Sunday.
  • We’re six points away from Pittsburgh for the Eastern Conference lead and eight away from the Islanders for last place. Let’s all yell really loudly for parity!

Players to watch:

Beware the dirt stache. Oh, and I’ve heard that the kid behind it is decentish.

The REAL pride of the Maritimes Atlantic Canada, since Newfoundland isn't technically part of the Maritimes, Colin freaking Greening.

Portal to pithy, predictable and pathetic Pittsburgh Penguins pun pandemonium (patent pending)

Hockey again? Hockey again. If I may borrow from the French, on a pas jou Dupuis longtemps. About damn time we get a game in. So Park yourself on your sofa Orpik up a few beers first. We’re running this.

The big thing about Pittsburgh, aside from their speed and scoring, is that they have a bunch of hateable players and aren’t Asham-ed of it. Not even Kunitz’s own mother could love Kunitz. We can’t let them get under our skin. Our best chance of winning is if we can weather the Fleury of shots, Staal their offense and get a dirty goal or two – typical road game. If we can stick to our gameplan, they’ll Neal to us. If we can’t though, we’re Cooke-d.

Side note, there’s a reason they nickname Sidney the “Wizard of Cros-by”... Like the characters in the story, he has no heart, no brain and no courage.

GO SENS GO!

Driving down for this one in a few, get to check out the Pens new digs and decided to go with seats 3rd row off the ice since I get to see like 1 or 2 live Sens games a year, here's hoping its a good one.

Ahhh, it's been 2 weeks since I have gotten to watch hockey because of my wedding and honeymoon. Looking forward to this.

I couldn't even get the scores of the game while on a cruise, however on my stop in Barbados, I went to Burt's bar and got all the scores from Burt himself!

Finally! Some hockey to watch!

Although not crazy about facing the Penguins after a long layoff. This may make the sens start better in fear of getting whipped. I think this may be a game that truly determines where Crosby is at. He had the adrenaline of his first game. faded last game. He will either be right back at it or continue to find his game shape legs. I am not sure which Sidney will show up. He may have a 10 game stretch of sorting things out before he truly returns. I don't put much into his 4pt game. One was an awful goal, the second one and Brooks Orpik will never, ever score another one like that. Lucky shot.

Newfoundland is not part of the Maritimes. Common mistake.

Newfoundland is just Newfoundland.(and Newfies usually don't include Labrador either)

Damn, seriously? Wow. I create a GDT and end up getting a geography lesson. Thanks, though, that's definitely good to know considering I'm in political science.

Yeah, I'd think Spezza is motivated by games against Crosby. In their last playoff meeting, where Crosby is darting and turning behind the Sens net and Spezza is just keeping him from walking out, then the pass finds a man in the slot... I expect to see some strong defense by Spezza, and hopefully some hard skating with the puck to create chances.
