The issue is they are forced to sign these out clauses because if they don't the players will leave to the NHL regardless.

I agree, they should have the right to prevent said player from getting a contract in another league disirregardless of the age at which he was signed.

It's not like SEL fans are demanding any infrigement on players basic rights like teams keeping rights on unsigned players as is the case in the NHL.

This is all transfer agreement stuff so that professional leagues out in the world are compensated for the players they lose.

Conversely, a player that has an active NHL contract is not allowed to play in these leagues. It's a bit of quid pro quo

When Radulov signed in the KHL, Ufa president offered to pay Nashville the "compensation" the European teams get when they lose a player.

This was taken as either or joke or an insult by the NHL and its fans.

How well is Claesson playing? We could ice a legit all Swedish line if he makes the team at some point.

Aberg - Zibanejad - Silfverberg
Claesson - Karlsson
Lehner

Really? I was thinking more along the lines of

Petersson-Zibanejad-Silfverberg
Rundblad-Karlsson
Lehner

The Ottawa Senators would come to be known as the Ikea Elitserien.

Just in time for the opening of the largest Ikea in North America!

I doubt Petersson will make it as a pro, just a feeling. Aberg - Zibanejad - Silfverberg would be an infinitely better line anyway.

Also Rundblad and Karlsson don't mesh well IMO Claesson - Rundblad or Claesson - Karlsson would be fine. Maybe we'll draft a good left side swedish D this year.

Claesson would be a much better foil for either EK or DR- eventually. It would be amazing to just send one of them over the boards to replace the other, rather than pair our puck-movers.

I just want my Ikea Elitserien idea to be acknowledged.

I know Rundblad and Karlsson probably won't play much together unless it's on the PP in the future.

I was also going to throw in a Coach Alfie comment too but I'd be getting ahead of myself.

That sort of claim is stupid and not for the reasons that people will think. Even if you're right, you are forcing yourself to hope that Zibanejad busts for real so you won't "lose face" and then you could play the "I told you so" card. Ridiculous IMO. Just hope for the best and see what happens, there's no prizes or glory if you guessed right than X or Z prospect busts or becomes the next Gretzky.

My three degrees make me smart, not a prediction I made on a message board.

If you actually have three degrees, you'll know better than anyone that having a diploma can mean very little.

I don't think that the KHL has or had a transfer agreement, accepting an outside payment was probably not even allowed by an NHL team.

Conversely, if a KHL player left his team mid contract to play in the NHL, there was no compensation for the KHL team.

Just making that statement proves otherwise, oh the irony!

I also have three degrees, and they were easy to get. Money, time, and inclination, are just as much a barrier or facilitators to getting a degree as intelligence is.

So apparently everyone here either has multiple degrees, a published author or something else super impressive. Is there some kind of award for smartest fan base?

Didn't a poster a few weeks ago go on about how he was quoted in Wikipedia as a bragging right? You may have to add that in.

I'm actually not insecure at all. I love being me... it's pretty fantastic.

Overcompensating by actively pretending you are not insecure is a really good indicator of someone that really is insecure.

When you have the balls to say that to someones face then I'll give you permission to write such a thing on a message board all star.

And?

When in place, the transfer "agreement" payments are so ridiculously low that the NHL finds it insulting when offered to reciprocate.

Well guess what? Most European fans feel the same. I don't think that is very difficult to understand.
