i still don't see why Montreal isn't punished for this crap. If the commissioner had any guts he would force them to surrender draft picks for this. It is a embarrassment for the NHL
I hope the Bruins beat them by a combined score of 16-0 nothing in these two games.
If they do... It's gonna be a looooooooooong week in Montreal and a lot of fun for bruins ( from Montreal ) to hear all the: Fire Gauthier/Martin, trade Gomez, Gionta and Cole...

I think it's as big a waste as anyone, but I don't see how the team is implicit in this - it's more their voter-starved fans who happen to hold provincial posts.

I tend to agree with you. The city/province is allowing this abortion to continue, not the team or the NHL.
The article says "cloud looms" "no decision made".
yah, cuz montreal dropped it a LONG time ago. "studying the file" is saying "yah, let's make this go away".
The writer of the article is just giving pre-game hype when reality this way over a long time ago.
I'm surprised you guys don't see the reality.
This is exactly why I didn't watch the video. You can smell it from a mile away.

But all it takes is for Jean-Pascal Boucher to say that they've evaluated the evidence and that the case is closed. Instead, he decides to make himself and his office a headline while hiding behind the veil of bureaucracy.

And based on a quick google search and your use of the term "office", that means that it's a political issue, not a Canadiens/NHL issue. I know it's fun to dump on the Habs for anything and everything, but they legitimately aren't at fault for this one.
So, so glad that Benedict Arnold failed to hold that city.
You know, after he conquered it.
That's really when the rivalry started y'know. Massachusetts general conquers Montreal, and they never did get over the inferiority complex that came from that. After all no Montreal general ever exactly conquered Boston, did they?
The only reason we don't use it more often is because, you know, Benedict Arnold.

God. I'm defending them. I feel dirty.
Their fans that called 911 are though and now they're trying to down play it like it's no big deal, some sort of routine thing, but the fact is nothing like this has ever happened.
Either way, it's a huge waste of resources and like pedrospecialk said, all they have to do is say no charges will be laid. But instead they draw it out. So it is what it is and it will likely be the running joke for years to come

There was no video attached to this? Unless I missed it. Either way. I know you guys hate the habs and all, but not everything written represents how we feel. People felt it was a suspendable hit and all that, but only morons thought he should be charged. That's insane lol I know some guy or girl on the board will say "yah but I have a habs fan who says..." "yah, and I have a boston bruins fan who said...." At a certain point, let's be honest here, the writer is a moron for writing this and it's in the past. To be honest, no one in montreal is thinking "oh yah, lets get chara for pacioretty, big game"...people just want to win one. These stories of revenge and **** are just retarded.

How did he make himself a headline? The canadian press wrote this, not the police force. You know how it is in montreal, they want it die down that's all.

Touche Wally.
I'm sure that this is long since forgotten by most habs fans, but somebody made an idiot of themselves today. Either it was a bureaucrat, or the writer misinterpreting what the bureaucrat said.

Neither. The writer knows the story but chose to swing it like they are actually using resources to figure this one out. The file is in a filing cabinet with dust on it.

And it should be the joke for years to come, I 100% agree. It's priceless.
But I don't think the team is at fault for it still making news this far removed from the incident. That's the only point I'm trying to make.

Sticks & Stones is a TV show here in Boston. I figured that it was a lead-in to a video clip of the show/segment. Shows how closely I read it. But the point remains.
