It makes everyone look bad. Pearn looks bad because he is the scapegoat. PG and JM look bad because it's becoming too obvious they scratch each other's back. It puts even more pressure on JM. Unless all the players had problems with Pearn, the move is gonna raise questions in the locker room. Useless move.
PG chose to appease the masses. But this is not the guy the fans want. So its tempered appeasement. And maybe a shot across the bow for Martin as well as PG has already sided with the players... That he signed.
An assistant coach fired in the middle of a season while the head coach keeps his job !
99% of time they all go or just the head coach but just an assistant ???
Yup, I mean I am not saying an assistant coach is not important, but it seems like a weird way to rectify a situation, and a bit of a scapegoat move. The only logic I could see behind something like this is throwing someone under the bus to send out a message.
Lol. Just a few days ago I read people saying that Pearn was a part of the problem. I also read that an assistant coach like Muller was the difference maker, I also ready that Gauthier is happy with status quo and won't make a move.
Now we have people questioning the firing asking if Pearn is the one to blame,, saying that assistant coaches don't make a difference and getting mad that Gauthier moved because it is a sign of panic.
Habs fans = never happy.
As far as my opinion on the matter. I can't see the future and I don't know what happened in the locker room, so we'll see what effect it has on the ice before I make any knee-jerk reaction.
