It makes everyone look bad. Pearn looks bad because he is the scapegoat. PG and JM look bad because it's becoming too obvious they scratch each other's back. It puts even more pressure on JM. Unless all the players had problems with Pearn, the move is gonna raise questions in the locker room. Useless move.

PG chose to appease the masses. But this is not the guy the fans want. So its tempered appeasement. And maybe a shot across the bow for Martin as well as PG has already sided with the players... That he signed.

Yup, I mean I am not saying an assistant coach is not important, but it seems like a weird way to rectify a situation, and a bit of a scapegoat move. The only logic I could see behind something like this is throwing someone under the bus to send out a message.

Lol. Just a few days ago I read people saying that Pearn was a part of the problem. I also read that an assistant coach like Muller was the difference maker, I also ready that Gauthier is happy with status quo and won't make a move.

Now we have people questioning the firing asking if Pearn is the one to blame,, saying that assistant coaches don't make a difference and getting mad that Gauthier moved because it is a sign of panic.

Habs fans = never happy.

As far as my opinion on the matter. I can't see the future and I don't know what happened in the locker room, so we'll see what effect it has on the ice before I make any knee-jerk reaction.

Pretty sure it wasn't his idea to put Darche on the top PP unit.

Pearn was part of the problem. Hopefully just the 1st domino to fall & they all tumble up to the GM, soon enough.

My guess is that only Perry Pearn was fired bc Martin & Gauthier refused to read the rest of Molson's memo.

Gauthier, Martin, Cunneyworth, and Pearn all worked together in Ottawa 15 years ago...could the dismissal have come from even higher?

c-balls got me thinking !

Donald Beauchamps says Pearn will wait to decide on whether he'll take position offered by Gauthier to stay with #habs

This may the first move of a 1995-style house cleaning. The 95-96 management got gutted for less than this start.

The habs were informed at 6 that Perry was fired.

This is just horrible class.. on all levels. Unless Perry and the boys didnt get along AT ALL. That's such a bad move.

PG heard that the PP was the problem and he thought it meant Perry Pearn.

Ok I'm calling it victory tonight. Not!
This firing is to appease the masses asking for JM blood.

What changed between after the game vs. Panthers and today? Not sure why they wouldn't make this move yesterday, instead of adding a possible distraction before the game?
