Obviously he's not better, but is Richards ENOUGH of a difference?
Voynov just scored - that's what it is all about!
If you spend YEARS building up the prospects, don't pi$$ them away for a quick fix - I thought that was the general concensus...
Lombardi never hid the fact that prospects are both developed and traded. We have a trainwreck at defense, one or two players will have to go soon. Still, we can't sit around and wait for all these prospects to develop. We are ready now, Kopitar, Brown, Johnson, Quick are all entering their primes.
Took Kopitar three years to really develop, can't afford to wait for Schenn to do the same. We gave up a player who hopes to become Richards and a third line winger for the true thing. It is undeniable that we upgraded. I would wait more than a handful of games to criticize the deal, wait till the playoffs. Richards practically gives us two first lines. He is also going to be making far far less than Simmonds and Schenn in a handful of years as well, it locks that position and keeps us together longer.
Dean is trying to make a habitual contender, not a one and done team. Richards and his contract greatly enhances that dream.
"It has not been a good day. I lost my glasses early this morning and I had to go buy a pair of 79 dollar reading glasses today. 79 bucks. You can literally get them at Costco, three-for-20." - Darryl Sutter's response to going up 2-0 in the series.
How can anyone be upset about losing Schenn when the result was Richards? Schenn was ranked the #1 prospect but he was and is just that: a prospect. Richards is the player Schenn HOPES to be one day. If he's lucky. Richards is already that player, and he's on a great contract! The Kings literally could not have made a better trade. I know people are in panic mode right now, but this team is better than last year's, easily. And Mike Richards is a big part of that.
Voyvov, you magnificent Russian mofo.
Some Kings fans want a life time rebuild. We're masochists.
