Starting Enroth tonight was a no brainer when I was looking ahead on the schedule a few games back trying to figure out when he gets his next start. However, how the past few games have been played, I feel that it's the perfect choice heading into tonight.

The guys need to step up their game following two overall subpar showings even with Miller in. Throwing Enroth out there gives the team another reason to turn it up a notch knowing that they don't have Ryan back there tonight.

I anticipate a big Sabres victory tonight.

without starting a huge debate, is there any change in the defense core for tonight?

Nope, Weber is still out, and apparently is not happy about it.

Can't say I blame him. He was a rock last season and Grags game is very inconsistent, so far. Ruff's decision to not give Weber any ice time is questionable at this point. Whatever the management's strategy is, they should at least throw weber a bone, in order to keep him in form when he does need to play, as well as to keep him happy.

Tonight's game is a must win. Not because the Sabres season is depending on it, but because they need to show that they can bounce back from two losses. It should be a simple task, given how much the Jackets have struggled out of the gate this year. So long as the boys don't take the night off expecting a win handed to them, they should do fine.

Not disagreeing with this at all, but I found some of our beat writers quotes to be interesting.

Quote:
Still trying to process the Blue Jackets' 4-1 win over Detroit on Tuesday. Typically, a struggling team plays gradually better and gets mixed results while they ramp up to their peak performance. Just as clubs tend to win games they don't deserve as they're sagging toward a losing streak. That's what made last night so odd.

The Blue Jackets -- wandering aimlessly and playing like independent contractors for their first eight games -- went from zero to 60 in one game. Yes, it was one game. Yes, it was against the Red Wings back-up goaltender. But, forgetting the opponent, the Blue Jackets played by far their most cohesive, organized, energetic game of the season to earn their first win of the season

Now, we as fans, are waiting to see whether it was a complete fluke, or whether the team finally got their stuff together. We'll have to wait and see.

I hate that this idea is even percolating. It's more likely that MAG has blackmail about Ruff doing the freaky deaky with a midget hooker than this group 6 nonsense being true.

Were 5-3. Compared to last years 3-9-2 record we had I am still feeling good. 6-3 would help with the current expectations

Just Win!

I've got a soft spot for the Jackets, I'm hoping it's the latter.

Of course you know, I can't wish you any kind of luck tonight.

Wisniewski returning and being eased into the line-up (27 minutes?) could have a huge impact on the team from the goaltending on out I think.

This is really starting to grind my gears..

This sounds to me he is waiting for Reggie to stumble, he in the past has always found his way into the doghouse very easily, and its not like Hoff, Regehr, Tyler, Jordan are all going to be considered to be "rotated out".. So he is essiantly waiting to yank one of Gragnani or Sekera. That shouldn't be the case 8 games into the season. Weber should get a shot based on the fact hes been a good soldier in the past and has paid his dues..

Benching Sekera is just not going to happen. He's beyond the point of being an on the bubble defenseman. I'd rank him ahead of Leo at this point.

I agree, I don't think Ruff feels that way though.. Leopold hasn't been bad but IMO Sekera has been on a whole nother level..

I'd argue Sekera has been our best defenseman, but he hasn't been going against tough opposition like Myers/Regehr and Leo/Hoff. He's been solid though, I'd like to see him get on the attack more, he can be really dynamic when he's on and with the sheltered minutes he's playing, better he turns the puck over to a 4th liner than to a 1st liner.
