well, i think Lindy has noticed his play considering Sekera-Ehrhoff were paired together last game...now its time to get Rej some PP work. Which is why i find it a bit odd that Lindy is 'forcing' Grags and his PP play on the team for now...Myers or Sekera could easily bump up to play his slot, could be the shakeup the PP needs.

i guess things are going pretty well when the 6/7 D-man slot is the hot debate.

Going tonight they better win!

4-1 Sabres

Myers, Leino, or Stafford get a goal

MEDIA NOTES:

TONIGHT’S GAME
BLUE JACKETS at SABRES
-First of two meetings between the Sabres and Blue Jackets this season.
-These two teams met twice last year; Buffalo went 2-0-0; 1-0-0 at home.
-The Sabres are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Blue Jackets; 3-4-0 at home.
-This is the 13th game all-time between Buffalo and Columbus; Buffalo leads the series with a 4-7-1 record.
-Buffalo is 3-4-0 at home against the Blue Jackets all-time.
-The two teams will face each other again on Nov. 25 in Columbus to finish out the regular season series.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Tonight is Buffalo’s second game of a season-high five-game home stretch… The Sabres have not lost at home to the Blue Jackets
since Nov. 14, 2008… Buffalo is 2-0-0 vs. Western Conference opponents this season… Ryan Miller is 10 wins from overtaking
Dominik Hasek’s franchise record of 234… Buffalo has killed 23 of 25 penalties (92%) in 2011-12… Jason Pominville has 20 points
(6+14) in his last 17 regular season games, dating back to 3/25/11 vs. FLA… Buffalo is 21-7-4 since Terry Pegula purchased the team.
HOW THEY STACK UP (Sabres’ league rankings before 10/26 games)
Vanek: 3 PPG (T-2nd), 34 S (3rd), 2 GWG (T-3rd), 7 G (3rd), 11 P (4th)
Pominville: 8 A (T-1st), 10 P (T-6th)

Miller: 4 W (T-5th)
CENTER OF ATTENTION
Derek Roy went 14-for-21 on the draw (67%) on Tuesday vs. TBL. Entering Wednesday’s games, Roy was ranked 11th in the league
in faceoff percentage this season, going 76-for-131 (58%).
500 AND COUNTING…
Brad Boyes became the 20th player in NHL history to dress for 500 consecutive games on Tuesday vs. TBL. Boyes notched two
points (1+1) in the loss, scoring his first goal since Mar. 19 vs. ATL. Boyes leads all Sabres skaters with 21 points (9+12) in 27 career
games against the Blue Jackets. Boyes has the NHL’s third-longest active ironman streak, and has never missed a game due to injury

I don't want to believe it either, but it's the only thing that makes sense--unless Weber has some undisclosed injury.

I don't think they are showcasing him, they need his cheap cap hit too much to be trying to trade him.

Last year Ruff rotated Sekera-Butler every game. He's not doing it this time.

It would be one thing if Grags was playing well...but he is clearly struggling at times. A few games with Teppo in the press box might actually be exactly what he needs--Teppo having been an excellent offensive D-man in his day can probably do a lot to help Gragnani improve his decision making on the ice.

It appears that the sabres have a 4-7-1 record against the blue jackets, since 2001. The good news is that we won rather convincingly the last two times we played them...

Only 4 wins in 12 games pretty much stinks.

The way I see it, Lindy not wanting to hurt the kid's confidence is a more likely possibility than this other idea.

Even during the cheap years under previous owners they wouldn't have done this.

I think you guys are over-thinking the MAG/Weber situation. My best guess is that Lindy is worried about the power play and thinks that MAG is the best option for getting it going. That may seem somewhat counter-intuitive, given the PP's lack of success thus far with MAG in the lineup, but I still think Lindy believes that MAG is one of the keys to PP success.

Second, Lindy's game plan this year is built largely around fast breakouts and activating the defensemen as often as possible. In that regard, MAG is a much better option than Webs. I think Lindy really likes Webs as a stay at home defensemen, but he has designed a system that is based on fast puck movement up the ice, and he is not ready to abandon that system.

Third, the harsh comments on this board make it seem like MAG is an absolute disaster out there, which I don't think is the case. More importantly, Lindy clearly doesn't think it is the case.

Bottom line is that Lindy recognizes that this team has been missing something important since Soupy left, and he is hoping that MAG can become that guy. If you recall, Soupy got off to a very rocky start and was a bit of a defensive liability for a while. It was only when he got added minutes and responsibility due to substantial injuries that his confidence and play took the leap to the next level.

At least Dorsett might realize that Pat's a leftie this time, particularly after last season's beat-down.

G-G-K gave them sustained forecheck and were the only line to physically impose on the Bolts. Wisniewski has some history there IIRC too, with Kaleta and Stafford going back a ways to his time in Chicago and Anaheim, so there might be some physical stuff tonight beyond just Kaleta-Dorsett. Wiz can pop people and hits to hurt so the boys had better have their heads up.

Anyway, looking forward to this one. CBJ/Buffalo games have tended to be good in the past & it'll be fun to see if the hopefully renewed CBJ can get through the Sabres.

Two very hungry teams - this should be a good one. CBJ games are usually spirited as is.

I know Gragnani hasn't looked great, but if you told me he would be 2nd on the team in +/- (+5) and having more points than Tyler Myers at this point, I'd be ok with keeping him in the lineup.

Indicative of Gragnani's and Myers' play [ ]

Misleading statistics [x]

Prime example of why you need to watch the games to make judgment and not use misleading stats like +/-. Considering his lack of contributions on the power play, Grags should be sat for Weber.

I have a good feeling about this one, 4-2 Sabres.
