Mmm hmm.

You know how the salary cap works right?

Also, you might consider reading up on supply and demand.

Starting to notice a trend of people starting accounts, then immediately start posting about how Calgary needs to rebuild.

Why would any of these teams want Kipper? They've all got a solid goaltender already.

What about Markstrom and Bernier? Florida and LA would be stupid not to give us them for Kipper!

Oh god, I would kill for Markstrom. Kiprusoff and Stajan for Markstrom and Weiss. We may need to add a 7th round pick or so.

This basically. I get where the OP is going: Kipper is getting old, and his skills aren't getting better. If the goal of the Flames is to start the rebuilding process, the goalie is an alright place to start. Speaking from a Canucks point of view, Schneider to the Flames is heatbreaking and super detrimental for the Canucks, especially if what's coming the other way is Kipper (unless you're more for a 50 game Luongo, which some have said would be beneficial for a deep playoff run). The bad news is that the Canucks don't have enough cap room for Kipper.

Which contender needs a goalie?

PS: the answer is none. Kipper is going to the the Flames goalie until his contract run out.

For argument's sake, if the Flames traded Kipper (for anything) where would he go?

Columbus - no, unless they really want to get rid of Mason
Toronto - doubtful unless they (management, not fans) think it's their missing piece to be a contender
Edmonton - probably won't ever be trading partners again.
Tampa - potentially, but we'd have to take Roloson back. Probably the best trade option if it's Roloson +.
New Jersey - needs more than a 1 year solution.
Detroit - Howard is their #1 for the forseeable future since he's relatively young, and they have nothing in the system.
Winnipeg - another good destination, might bring them instant credibility.
Phoenix - are they allowed to spend money?

Everyone else is pretty much set in that position, or don't have the cap space.

In any event, if Kipper is traded it pretty much signals the start of the rebuild. He's probably won us the last couple of games he's started and a tandem of Karlson / Irving scares the bejeezus out of me.
