I feel bad for Carter. He gave up money for term, and he did it because he wanted to play for Philly. There is zero chance he signs the same contract with Columbus. And now he's stuck in what has been nothing more than a horrible environment for hockey for the next ten years at a sweetheart deal. I would've been pissed too. It's completely unfair to him.
Hah, I don't feel sorry for him in the slightest. Guy's a *********.
Fact of the matter is that many equally (or more) talented players play their entire careers on 2nd rate teams/locations but the difference is they aren't all *****ing and moaning about it and they get on with playing the game they love instead of daydreaming about cities with a better party scene.
Could be wrong, but I heard Kaberle was on the market. He'd be great with Whit on the PP, but he probably is better suited for the Wings
Kaberle? What a joke..........All the talk, last year was how great he was coming out of TO..........where is he now? Another over hyped, over paid player from TO that never lives up to expectation.
I think that if we want to improve our team that Gilbert would have to be given up; getting Fistric and McBain would more than make up for Gilbert and give us a better over all team and toughness with more skill.
?? you cant be serious...

we are ok with Horcoff as 2nd liner for the next 2 seasons while we have Belanger as 3rd.
RNH
Horcoff
Belanger
Lander
That's really weak, I'm not going to lie.
From what I've seen this year not having a 2C will be really detrimental down the road. IMHO build from the centre out. I would rather package Gagner, Hemsky and other movable assets for a big 2C than a winger like Okposo.
I feel if we left our centre situation how it is, our wingers won't develop as well offensively as they should.

Adding Gagner to that doesn't make it stronger though.
This team needs Grigorenko. Two solid scoring lines could be built around duos of Hall, Grigorenko, RNH, Eberle. Hopefully we can follow Chicago's build and sign a top end forward(Hossa) and defenseman(Campbell), Parise and Suter would be the comparables for this seasons UFA crop.
We could pretty much trade an entire second line this year in Paajarvi-Gagner-Hemsky for an elite defenseman and still be solid up front if we can get in the top two territory for the draft.
I think if Dumba is around when the Oilers draft, he is their pick. Fills a lot of needs. As terrible as they are, I see the team drafting 4,5,6,or 7 this year
I'd love a Gagner for Okposo trade. Give both players a chance to rebound with new teams.
I would take that all day. I would suspect it is a little early for the Isles tastes to give up on him just yet. He has not been in the NHL as long as snow pants has. Also he did have one big injury last season. But he has not had not had a chronic injury history baggage as of yet that comes along with Gagner.

How did we manage to get by when he was playing on the wing for most of this season so far?

Agreed, not only that but I think everyone on LI knows that this year is basically a write off for Okposo, and the key for him is just to get into flow of playing the game again and get back to the level of comfort he had before.
I'd still do that trade all day every day. And twice on Sundays.

Just depends how big of a slide they go on and where they pick.
I'm sure guys like Ebert, Murray, and Dumba are all guys they would like, but I'll be curious to see where they have some of the D ranked in a combined list with all of the forwards.
I'm sure they will take their BPA, but not sure where guys like Grigorenko, Galchenyuk, and Forsberg will be relative to some of the top 6-7 d-men.

There a question marks regarding if Dumba's game will translate to the NHL.
