Who to watch?OILER TO WATCH: RNH. The new kid in town is playing his 10th game and is here to stay. His early season play has been a revelation and the chemistry on that line is undeniable. He is currently leading the Oilers with 9GP 5G-4A-9PTS +3

AVALANCHE TO WATCH: Erik Johnson. Last years acquisition has had a hot start to the season as well, leading the Avs D corps with 6 pts, although a horrible -7. Great on the PP, not so much at evens.

Just don't go to a shootout, I guess.

Low scoring game, big potential for sudden-death/shootout of course just like all of our games. Even more so this one.

Man we really need some secondary scoring, I say put PRV, Lander, and Omark together as second line and see if they can produce, the Horcoff line just does not have any consistency.

The defacto first line as I like to call it is not there to score they're job is to stop the other teams best line from putting the puck in our net5-2-2 so far so I good I say

Kinda hoping Omark takes Gagner's place tonight. Gagner has been pretty awful since returning to the line-up. Also hope Petry is available for this game to be used over Peckham.

Hall - RNH - Eberle
Smyth - Horcoff - Jones
Paajarvi - Belanger - Omark
Eager - Lander - Petrell

Petry - Potter
Gilbert - Smid
Sutton - Barker

Dubnyk

It will be interesting to see how the kid line gets used now that Renney can't line match.

It will be interesting to see how much slack Renney gives Gagner.

Do we? We seem to be winning without it :p

Anyways! Let's go Oilers, win this one in regulation and we're Ranked #1 in the conference with a Chicago loss

I know it's october, but the Oilers and Avs are tied for first (in the division) in the standings right now. Winner tonight gets possession of first place.

Gonna be a gooder

We usually play well against Colorado, hopefully we aren't too tired from running around in our own zone for 75% of last nights game

I have to think Omark gets in. Not sure if it would be for PRV or who.

Unfortunately I think Renney is a bit like MacT in the sense that he is superstitious and will run out the same team until they lose (with the exception of Khabi who needs some rest). I hope I'm wrong.

What exactly is wrong with that?

I'm quite confused to be honest. Complaints when we change the lines and now complaints when we keep the same lines after a win?

Note to the OP - you have one too many players on the first line ...

I have a feeling PRV breaks out tonight. This just seems the kinda game that he'll dominate. Peckham needs to sit, and Petry needs to play. Not quite sure why they haven't called him up yet. What a juicy turnover by Peckham last night to Brower I think it was....

can't have that...

I am going against popular opinion here and calling for a high scoring game...Oilers and Avs always have unexpected games...This one will follow suit...

We need to start generating secondary scoring I would shake up lines as follows

Hall-RNH-Eberle
Smyth-Horcoff-Gagner
Prv-Lander-Omark
Petrell-Belanger-Jones

What do you guys think? I would keep same d-pairs and give Pecks another chance (hoping he was just rusty!)

Start DD

I'm hoping for a win in regulation;
thinking we'll probably lose;
will be happy if we get even 1 point out of this game.

Colorado's playing well, Edmonton's coming off an emotional, hard-fought win against the best team in the league, it's a road game where Renney doesn't get the match-ups he'll always want, and it's the second of a back-to-back. Would love to see Omark thrown in for anybody who's ailing, or failing that anybody IS ailing, I'd love to see him in Lennu Petrol's place. Lennu's been great, but I have a feeling that Edmonton will need as much offensive generation as possible in this one. Wouldn't even mind seeing Omark and Keller (if he's still with the team) come into the lineup in place of Petrell and Eager.

Prediction: 4-3 SOW for Colorado. Hope I'm wrong.

I like those lines. Hopefully Renney would roll them more or less evenly cuz all of them are capable of playing. I think the key to more offense is mixing up the offensive attack by sometimes sending d-men streaking into the slot. Other teams seem to know how to cover the Oilers and it's just a testament to the skill of the kid line that they can get open to score. If they start mixing up their looks, sending Corey Power Potter Play (or Barker or Gilbert) into the slot for a shot or low slot for a screen while dropping off a defensively responsible forward when he does that, they might get some interesting chances.

Ya those lines would be perfect. It's a shame Renney hasn't tried it yet. The only 1 there that could potentially be a liability would be the Swede line. But considering they'll be the most rested, I'd hope for a big game from them!

As far as Peckham goes... he was our biggest liability once again. I'm starting to expect that he'll be good for 2 or 3 majorly bad giveaways in a game. Tho I noticed he was using the up ice half wall pass a little more. Which is a good thing. It's the in the slot giveaways that are the most punishing.

I have a feeling this is going to be a strange game. Maybe 7-5 Avs. IMO, lots of goals and pretty sloppy defence could be in the cards.

question: shouldn't this also be landers 10th game? not like hes playing badly or anything but I thought they would send him down to OKC so they don't burn a year of his ELC

If he plays any pro, the contract is in affect...... The only way his pro contract slides if he goes back to Sweden.
