Ex-Oilers in the NHL

I always cheer for ex-Oilers even when they're playing for other teams (except for guys like Weight who jumped ship), nice to see MAB getting so many points in TBay. Who'da thought he'd be ahead of Lecavalier, Stamkos and St Louis in points so far into the season? He's also leading the league in points by a d-man with 10 in 8 gp.

Gx is playing his 4th season as a Flame already. Funny I still think of him as an Oiler and he only played about 25 games here. He probably barely even remembers this team.

SS with 6 points and +6 in 9 gp.

So wait...

You didn't cheer for Weight but you are cheering for Souray and Glencross?

What is wrong with you?

WTF? Weight was traded for financial reasons, the same way Gretz, Kurri, Tik, Messier, Lowe, Buchberger, Guerin, Hamrlik, Marchant and Smyth were...to name but a few.

You mean to say that you didn't cheer for any of them?

I know that as a kid, I loved going to see the Oilers play the Kings and Rangers cuz I could cheer for both teams and not feel bad about it, though I did hope the Oilers would win.

I am among the others who are in shock that you didn't cheer for Weight, (he is a class act) but whats worse is you're cheering for MAB! He cost the OIL the Cup or something like that.

Seems everyone is forgetting that Weight was on the 'Canes in '06.

No, I (I am sure we) remember that perfectly. Weight is one of my favorite all time Oilers and always will be. I am glad he has a ring, hate it was against us.

Aaron Johnson is back in the league as the number 4 d-man for the BJS

I never cheer for Pronger or Glencorss but do feel for Roloson, MAB, Staios and maybe Conklin.

Weight was traded because we wouldn't be able to afford to pay him what he was worth. Bergeron was a turd here, made more boneheaded plays than not. I lump Souray and Pronger together and won't cheer for either. Same with Arnott and Jason Chimera, but that's mostly because they kill us all the time. Everyone else I cheer for. Even Glencross, I wish we still had him.

I stopped cheering for former Oilers after Mike Grier was never signed this year.

Weight was offered a reasonable contract here to stay long term, he chose the money over the team, nuff said.

MAB played hard, made a mistake. Big whoop.

What was he offered here and what did he end up getting?

I think it's about time fans stop taking it personally when a player moves on to a different team (especially when they are traded).

What exactly was he offered? I doubt it was anything near market value.

What's wrong with Glencross? I think you meant to say Pronger. Or Hejda.

Well if he hates Weight over money why wouldn't he hate Glencross over a 100k?

Big whoop indeed. MAB will get shipped out before year's end or benched through the playoffs (like he was on the Ducks). He's got a great shot and can skate, but everything else isn't NHL caliber.

I can't believe that jerk would move on just because he could make twice as much money somewhere else and have a better chance at a ring!

I would think that Calgary is what is wrong with Glencross to a lot of people...
