I'm not against Ebert for Laughton. Change of scenery for both guys.

I think it's time to look closer at the D. If we look at 07/08 the Spits gave up 205 goals of course they scored a lot more than this group but... if you look man per man the 07/08 group isn't much more talented than this group.

Biro 19
Young 18
Blacker 16
Ellis 16
Reid OA
Cundari 17
Parlett/Kwiet 18/19

This year
Robertson OA
Posa 19
Duininck 18
Ebert 17
Bateman 16
Webermin 17

This group is more experienced than the one in 07/08. More stress is put on this group due to lack of goal scoring up front but this group is on pace to give up 249 goals. Not sure what's going on but that shouldn't be acceptable.

I think what is missing is that "nastiness" we like to speak of. Young, Cundari, Reid, even Kweit all had a mean streak to them and weren't pushed around in their own end.

It's something we are missing this year...and it was also something missing last year as well (247GA).

The asking price will be too high.

We've had to put up with Hicks here in Kitchener and his constant rumour mongering. Sure he may have gotten a few right but so posters on here.
Maybe Rychel is just doing this to get the teams attention and give'm a wake-up call?
I will never defend Jeff Hicks' writing style. Nor will I deny his agendas. He is guilty on both fronts.

But don't ever doubt his sources. He is right on top of a lot of the backroom dealings and I can assure you that if he says they're shopping Ebert, you can pretty much take it to the bank. Hicks is a lot of things, but connected is one of them.

We have the nastiness on the back end. His name is Bowen.

One player isn't going to help. We need to get that from everyone. Even Ellis showed it from time to time. Right now the entire core is very weak in our own end... the entire core needs to get tougher or we will be in it tough the rest of the way.

Where's the physical play from Duininck? Is he still hurt?
Where's the physical play from Robertson?
Where's the physical play from Ebert?

Webermin and Bateman aren't the biggest dogs in the yard but both have shown a willingness to muck it up...more so than the other 3, who have the physical tools to do so.

Very interesting. Is there a year on the picks?

Something else has to be in the works...we are short on defensemen as it is.

The 2nd rounder isn't 2012 that went to Erie when the Sting got Thompson. I don't think the value is bad but we were just mentioning the D and how poor they are. The D didn't get better with this move. I think this will put to rest the Ebert rumor.

Yeah...something seems off. There has to be something else going on. And the trade of Duininck signals the end of the 2009 draft. We currently have no 1993's left.

That was my next comment on the 93's full room to get OA 93's now. They need to address D though. Robertson is done after this year if not before the end of this year. You're then left with.

Posa OA
Ebert 18
Webermin 18
Bateman 17

Bowen
Deeley
Freidman
Schmaltz-long shot
Butcher-wait another year U Denver commit

It's not pretty because I can't see the Spits drafting a defenseman in the 1st round 2012 they need a top scorer.

My OHL sources are telling me that Windsor is trying to trade Campbell and

Kuhnhackl now

3 teams reportedly in the running,Oshawa,Saginaw and NFalls

Also spits had a trade last week but it fell apart at last minute

I'm surprised, but I'm not surprised. Duininck has leveled out a bit and maybe a change of scenery, where he's not "the man", so to speak, will benefit him.

HL, any word on what the deal involved, or who it involved?

Lets wait and see what this week brings on the trade front. Right now there are definite holes to fill and if Rychel is able to deal both Khunhackl and Campbell, we should be able to address most of the issues.

All I know is that if Campbell is dealt, I won't be expecting many wins the rest of this season. I hope we get an 18yo goalie back that can be a capable starter for us.

The 2nd will come in handy as trade bait down the line.

Wow, seems we sold low on Duininck. Is there an extra pick that we get if he plays an OA season

Do we call-up Deeley with this move?

why would Niagara want Campbell when they have Visitin?

I think we could see a Windsor/Oshawa blockbuster involving Campbell and Ebert going there.

That deal to Oshawa would make sense. Not sure what outside of Laughton would be had from Oshawa.

I think only Khunhackl is linked to Niagara.

Hmmm...

Robertson - Posa
Ebert - Bateman
Bowen - Webermin
Deeley

Unless something else happens? (which I'm almost counting on now)

Here's an idea...

To Osh: Campbell, Ebert, pick

To Wsr: Altshuller, Laughton, Brown

I like the deal for the Spits. Duinick is an average defenceman at best. He never really lived up to the hype Rychel placed on him when he signed. He brings a bit of toughness, a bit of offence and a bit of defence, but doesn't really excell at any of the three. He doesn't have great size either.

If the Spits are awarded the Mem Cup in '14, I think they'll want OA's who bring a little more to the table. That second round pick will be a nice trade chip come that year.

Good luck to Craig in Sarnia.
