News And Notes

- Coach Kevin Dineen after Florida's 4-3 loss at Ottawa. The Sens scored the game-winner with 2.5 seconds left.
George Richards' Blog of the Miami Herald:Your Source For Reliable, Early Panthers Info!

Primary Target

Ryan Miller, who last time out shut out the Panthers, yet hasn't won a game since then. He's looking to get back to his winning ways so the Panthers must finally solve this All American All Star.

Red Hot Cat Of The Night

Jacob Markstrom, who has been playing lights out, despite the lack of defensive support and is running a fantastic 2.11 GAA with a .945 SV%, 4th best in the NHL.

I'm thinking Theodore starts this game.

Hopefully this time we can keep the tempo up all game and stop getting lazy in our own zone. CLEAR THE DAMN PUCK.

lovin' the Fred G. Sanford avatar...

Lamont Sanford: I'm gonna call the police!
Fred G. Sanford: Yeah, tell 'em we were robbed by a gang of weirdos!
Lamont Sanford: Why do you say they were weirdos?
Fred G. Sanford: Who else would steal Aunt Esther's picture?

I was thinking that Jose would be in goal for this game. Let's hope for a better performance than in both the last game and the last game we played against the Sabres.

Stupid College Football!

That and the looming Directv vs Fox fight. Well at least I'll be able to watch Monday's game. I suppose it doesn't even help to get Center Ice because if it's on FSN the feed will be blacked out as I live in the Panthers region correct? Looks like Monday might be my last Panthers game until Directv and Fox get their acts together. (Well except for the game vs Philly, I have tickets to that one )

When I get home tonight I'll be relying on you guys to have posted the in's and out's of the game.

LETS GO PANTHERS!!!!

Was reading GR's blog, and apparently there is no time table on Mikael Samuelsson's return, so who knows when he actually puts on a jersey for us.

Just how much did Tallon know abut the injury prior to the deal? Have there been comments on this?

I was thining about that a few days ago... if a player fails his physical at the new club, can we void the transaction and just work out another deal or que pasa?

Yeah, I would assume that Theodore is in net despite Markstrom having another good game and being hung out to dry. I'm hoping the loss to Ottawa motivated them to play smarter tonight. Get the damn puck out of the zone faster and lessen up on shots allowed and it might be a close game.

My gut is telling me this is the game that makes us feel average again. I hope I'm wrong. A win here puts us tied with the Sabres in the top half of the conference, a loss, depending on other teams, possibly out of the top 8 before Halloween! Needless to say, could be a huge early win. Go Panthers!

If I see another night of mediocrity and lack-luster defense I will not be a happy camper.

I'm sure Tallon knew about it, it's not a big deal. Sammy said that he's probably going to be back within a couple weeks. He made it sound like he could be back as early as next week.

Time will tell if its a big deal. Its not specified what his injury is. Sure if its just another few games no biggie. but if he misses a quarter of the season as a ufa that we traded one of our leading scorers, sure is a big deal.

Booth hasn't been a leading scorer in the past 2 seasons.

...but on a cellar dwelling team. Doesn't say a ton. Yes I liked him, and I thought he had some great talent. Pre-concussion, I figured he'd be a 35 goal scorer in the league, but at this point, I think he's just a 20 goal 40 point type of guy who is a tweener for the 2nd and 3rd line. People underestimate the effects that getting knocked out has on the style of some guys. Concussions basically ruined Niedermayer's career here when he was showing a bit of potential to turn into something good.

Curious how many "just" 20+ goal scorers with 40+ points we will have at seasons end.

That says more about the sorry state of this teams offense over the past few seasons than it does about Booth being a scorer.

Need a win. I expect full energy and a great effort. If not, better bench some players.
