Didn't look like an elbow to me. Just like when he knocked out the guy on Pittsburgh for Ottawa. Sutton's just a big guy and he likes to throw big hits. Keep your head up.

This thread confirms that a lot of people don't understand the new rules about headshots.

This was a textbook example of what is no longer allowed.

Not sure how anyone can say that this happened because Sutton is so tall. Landeskog's shoulder, which should have been the point of contact, was most definately in a different spot. It's one thing to bring in the size-argument when you hit the whole body, but here it was just the head. For Sutton to lay a clean hit on Landeskog, he would have needed to aim further to the right.

So yes, this hit was pretty clearly against the rules. Not particularly vicious, but definately a penalty. Beyond that, I can't see more than a fine or a short suspension, one or two games at the most.

This is how I see the hit. I don't think it was malicious or intentional but I short suspension wouldn't surprise me considering the contact to the head.

1 or 2 games if fine by me, but Im also ok with there being no suspension, which it seems might end up being the case. Was clearly a hit to the head, but wasnt all that dirty, wasnt a hard hit, and wasnt late or anything!

Landy was fine thats all I care about!

I mean, it was a head contact, but he came from the front the whole way. In my mind it was perfectly fine.

There sure are a lot of experts in this thread.

But seriously, yeah, I could see him getting suspended.

How different things could be if he was over another inch, could have been a season ender.

I was watching the Sportsnet feed and I think they attributed the hit to Sutton's height.

Fixed.

After seeing Olver and Hishon still unable to train and Mueller most likely finished, I don't have much hope for severely concussed players making long-term comebacks.

^^This. Besides if you don't see a freight train Sutton's size coming straight at you from the front....Wow.

Landeskog is too small for today's NHL.

Clear headshot. Targeted the head, intentional or not, doesn't really matter. 2 games seems about right.

Agree. That plus Sutton's notoriously goon track record should factor in to the decision.

Perfectly clean hit. He just accidentally missed a little bit that's all.

Landeskog is too small for today's NHL.
Sutton is too old for today's NHL.

Senility is messing with his head, he doesn't remember the new rules just told to him in the offseason.

Landeskog appears to see Sutton at the last second and slows down a bit, something that Sutton's side could use.

The Defenseman should be suspended for throwing that pass to landeskog, there was no way that Lando could have avoided that hit with the suicide pass heading towards him.
