Yeah I noticed that one too and was gonna post it but glad you did. People complained about the Frolik and the Booth trades but even those have worked out well for us. But I'm glad everyone is enjoying this thread as much as I did in creating and updating it.
The biggest steal I see now that Tallon made was moving Ballard to Vancouver. Even if we didn't keep everything from that deal, Howden alone is worth more than Ballard.
I liked Ballard, was sad to see him go. But Id agree, Id do Howden for Ballard straight up. In all honesty, Im much higher on Howden right now than I am on Bjugstad. Bjugs might have more upside and amount to more in the long run, but howden is much more polished and he is going to be such a great player for this team. I envision him being a Skille that can score
Couple of trades alot of us questioned right now it looks like Tallon did a good job. Booth could hurt in the future but so far looks like Tallon did his job.

That first deal was where a lot of this started from in wanting to create this thread and the 2nd one was the tipping point. I wasnt even concerned as much with the salary versus production aspect but a good way to look at it too.
That said, the 1st trade was interesting in that a lot of people didnt mind trading off Frolik but complained about losing Salak. So if you combine that in, you can see we still didnt do that bad in that deal:

Salak has actually been supplanted by 2 other goalies in the AHL even. Sure we could use him for depth in the minors but thats all he's going to be at this point. Pacan, OTOH, we just dont know what he will be. He's basically stuck behind a deep Niagara team at both of the positions he normally plays (RW, C). Its not like he's gonna play before guys like Strome, Friesen, F. Hamilton or Brett Ritchie. Yes he's a 20 yr old playing in his overager yr so its hard to say he has a super bright future. But he has size and I'm interested to see what he does turning pro this summer.

I completely forgot about those other pieces of that trade. Thanks for reminding me. The best part is seeing the same Blackhawk posters that said fail Dale got fleeced now willing to get rid of Frolik for a bag of pucks.

Oh they arent happy on the blackhawk thread now.....
The Campbell deal was ridiculously one-sided when it was made and it's worse now. No need to rub it in, jerk.
not addressed to me...
i lke the hawks just a few of the fans were really thinking tallon got fleeced with skille at the time and they were clearly wrong. And they should have got more for Cambpell, even as a dump.

the more this team has success in trades in prospects in victories the more haters will appear and the more laughable their comments will be.
I enjoy reading these haters comments it makes the road to success even more sweeter.
No one likes to get fleeced. Some thought the Frolik deal would be a steal, and he would score 20 goals each year. Didnt pan out so they are eating their words. Then when another posted skille's goal last night, the mod closed the site lol.
The Campbell trade was as horrific to them as the Luongo trade was for us, even considering it was a critical $$ dump. They should have recieved more, alot more.
People like to think of trading as a zero-sum game, but its not. Just because the Campbell trade was a huge win for the Blackhawks doesn't mean that it was a loss for the Panthers.

Was a HUGE win for us, if it works for Chicago, so be it. There doesn't always have to be a winner and/or a loser. Skille+ for Frolik+ was a win for us, too. However it works out for Chicago, it is what it it. Frankly, I don't care. I like Chicago, root for them most of the time, but I really only care if a trade works out for the Panthers.

Your in the minority of hawks fans I encounter at the arenas that think it was a huge winfor the Hawks, but thats what fandom is about.
What the blackhawk fan thinks it is is irrelevant to me, aside for the amusement factor.
We rid ourselves of someone who is not playing nhl hockey, and in return have a franchise player, a Hart or Norris candidate, quarterbacking us to a division championship.
So yea, just because the trade was a huge win for the Panthers, does not mean it was a loss for the Hawks.

I think you're overrating him quite a bit, but yes...
To get a player like Brian Campbell for Bustislav NOlesz and his contract was a huge win for the Panthers.
Not only is the move itself a win for the Panthers, but it established a culture and sent a message to all the other free agents we signed that we were serious about winning. The Campbell move symbolized much more than the move itself for us.
For Chicago, it was a salary dump. I don't think it's necessarily hurt them much but considering that they haven't really gotten any better from it, I fail to see how it's a "win" for them, really.
Soupy trade showed others we were serious about where we're going. Don't think we get Post or a couple other guys without him willing to waive to come here.
And again, other than guys like Boothie, I don't really care how other players do elsewhere. Especially guys we knew weren't exactly NHL material and we had them on top lines.

Listen, most of you know im Czech in my roots, I knew Rusty and his beautiful wife. i take no pleasure in his failures. Nor in Frolik's. But lord how tallon didnt have to give up more no matter how desperate Chicago was to dump his $$ is mind boggling. IMHO.
I have nothing against Rusty, the person. I've heard he's a really nice guy from someone who told me that Horton's an ass because he gave him the middle finger one time.
As far as his play, I had been calling him Busty since a couple years ago already. I felt it was a good nickname for him.

Busty...Its sad but true. Never the power forward he should have been. Food for thought while we pine our juniors who just might not pan out.
and the Horton middle finger happend at the golf tournament him and Ollie walked out on...a true story.

Also flipped off a friend of mine in Jersey or New York. He was up there visiting his sister and went out of his way to go to the game. Was only 16, paid his own way, got a cab to and from, and was flipped off by him when he cheered the bus away. He texted me downtrodden. Course, Nate didn't know he did all that to go to the game, but it doesn't matter. Who flips off a teenager cheering them away?? Can't stand that clown.

I think this is another story though.
He was a poster on the main boards (YearOfTheRat), some might remember him. He just wanted Horton's autograph or something after the game and Horton gave him the middle finger. I think he had told Horton something before that, but not something to warrant a middle finger. So he's not a big Horton fan, as you can imagine.

Story from above. He texted me right after it happened.
It's not like Salak is the next big thing in goal or anything. Markstrom and Brittain are better IMO. Pacan is a solid prospect. A little underappreciated because of our prospect depth. On most teams' lists he'd be in the 10-15 range.

If you think any GM's trade, all trades, in that sense it's zero-sum game, you cannot be winning in trades all the time, sometimes you have to make a bad trade (or favor to other GM). After all NHL is closed club or society.
