Why not? It just isn't working, and the guys we thought were core pieces (Nash, Umby) aren't getting it done. One could argue the injuries, but at this point I say BS.

I still remember the first game back in 2000. Did I expect those guys to hold the lead? No. Did I expect more than 1-9-1 all these years later? You better believe it! Junior Mac needs to blow it up from top to bottom and make every player available for the right offer. (Imagine all of the pucks and tape and spare zamboni parts!)

It's as if Rachel Phelps is in charge, and I have finally had enough.

This guy + this guy

The Thrashers were not finished building under Dudley before the move, but I do understand your point.

I never thought this season was going to turn out as embarrassing as it has.

If you allow that, one could easily say Howson is not done yet either. This club would be a lot better with a real NHL net minder and another top 4 defenseman.

But let's not forget, this is the guy who gave Hitch a 3 year contract extension, then fired him. Then brought on Arniel, who is about to meet the same fate. This is the same guy who sat on his hands last summer and made no changes even though the needed ones have been glaringly obvious to many fans for YEARS. And then, there's Mike Commodore - who we're still paying for.

I blame Hitchcock just as much as I do Howson for Commodore.

Really?!? How so? The head coach can't acquire and sign players.

The move was probably Hitch's suggestion, the stupidity of the contract was Howson....dual fail

If we had Hedja/Commodore circa '08, this team would have more than 3 points right now. Just one more plan that collapsed!

The biggest fail was bringing in guys like Commodore to play Hitch hockey, then drafting guys like Filatov who could never play that style of game. Perhaps Howson thought Hitch would be gone by the time Filatov got to the bigs, but then GMSH gave Hitch a 3 year extension. This guy is a walking contradiction.

Very true Pete. I think there is a level of dysfunction in the CBJ hockey operations that is heretofore unseen since...since... the Blue Jackets had Doug MacLean as GM and ummm... Doug MacLean as coach.

And to think that the Jackets had a thorough evaluation of their organization from top to bottom in this past off season, leaving no stone unturned. Well, that hasn't worked out has it? I wonder who was doing the evaluating and what they were evaluating?

Lip service to the fans and the media, I'd guess.

Boyd and Strumm, (while I did argue they both deserved to be fired simply due to the ineptitude of the last 11 years) it turns out, were the sacrifical lambs.

The lack of honesty with its fans will lead to this organization's downfall if they aren't VERY careful. From this to broadcasting to coach's comments to the media to empty marketing slogans like "all out, all season" and "earn it" and beyond.

If they haven't broken up, I am betting it's a package deal.

Going by the Columbus way of handling things, I'd say that win bought Arniel and Howson another 3 or 4 seasons.

I'm not happy with the way this season has started but I thought Howson did a great job in the off season. The Wiz suspension and Dez getting hurt along with Carter were unforeseen but devastating. If these wouldn't have happened who knows what.
