17 goals in 58 games, 24 goal pace.... Moss is important to the Flames and isn't just a random piece.

Besides that 1 season, Moss has been quite effective for the Flames. Certainly not a player with zero value. He's not a player to trade to free up cap space since he only makes $1.3M....he's a great value player for our team.

Garrioch also thinks Jokinen has no value and couldn't even be given away.

just asking, what is the price for Penner? I doubt the Kings get a better LW straight up for him

For some time now, I think something like Nash for Penner + Bernier + Picks/Prospects seems likely

I'm sorry, but Victor Hedman is 2 years removed from being a #2 overall pick in a deam draft and logs tonnes of minutes. If he is moved, it is for multiple 1st round picks.

Garrioch is an idiot. He's no better than Eklund these days.
You said it right. Any time Garrioch mentions the Flames it becomes more and more evident that he has no clue what he is talking about.

There's no chance we move Hedman for picks.

Translation: It'd have to be such a ridiculous overpayment that Yzerman would be ridiculed for NOT doing the trade in order for Hedman to be traded. He's a 6'6 20 year old and logging 20+ minutes next to Brewer playing against top lines and is a +3.

Not the kind of player you just ship off for an average package of players or a few picks.

Kulemin/Lupul
Liles
Aulie
Gustavvson/Scrivens

Hedman
2nd 2012

Toronto gets a huge, top2 defenseman with upside. The emergence of frattin and gardiner make both liles and one of Kulemin/Lupul expendible.

hedman-phaneuf
Gardiner-Schenn
Gunnarsson-Komi

Tampa gets a top4 PMD defenseman, a top6 winger with size and under 30, and a promising big defenseman. This adds alot of depth and grit on TBL's playoff run. Add's a promising young goaltender to potentially steal the #1 goaltending position.

the lightning should look to the future. they have the pieces to win now but unless they go on a miracle run like Boston they wont win the SC. They have a lot of holes.

Nope.

Hedman isn't a player that is tradeable just for a package of your everyday players and a pick or two.

Kings are stacked on defense.

Why in the world would we pay a hefty price for another dman?

I'm thinking these are mostly Garroich looking at team's and guessing who might be available (Penner bag-skated? Probably being traded), but there's some interesting possibilities and players discussed here. If nothing else it's good Sunday morning discussion.
Lot's of logic in all of these "rumors".

The whole world knows Calgary wants to shed dead weight to speed up their rebuild, just like the whole world knows that teams aren't going to kill their cap space by taking on struggling players at this point in the year.

Columbus is in obvious need of a shakeup, and you've gotta give to get. They seem to have enough depth to part with a couple of young guys if it can elevate their team.

Penner really does need a change of scenery.

Tampa could definitely use a young goalie.

Personally, I'm most suprised that we haven't seen Penner moved. The guy scored 32 goals in 09-10, and was on pace for 28 before being traded. For whatever reason, things just aren't working out in Los Angeles, but for a team who has an equally struggling player, making a move for a guy like Penner is a really low-risk deal. He's not exactly worth much to the Kings anyways.

Going with the theme of trying to solve the respective problems of these two teams, I think something real simple might work between Columbus and LA. Dustin Penner for Antoinne Vermette. Similar cap hits, and Vermette brings some great versatility to the Kings. Dustin Penner gives the Jackets another scoring threat on the wing, and may be the right guy to help Derrick Brassard along.

I was interested until you listed Ashton. No way in hell he gets moved. He has top 6 power forward written all over him and is emerging in his rookie year in the AHL.

Give it about 2 months and Penner might be available for a sandwich.

I'm pretty sure Garrioch made up that TB-LA draft rumor. There has never been a single word mentioned about something like that, not even during all the draft day tweets. Only thing was the LA capologist had a talk with Yzerman, I think, but that seems a huge stretch to link to the rumor.
