Is anybody growing a moustache for "Movember"?

I'm trying to convince myself (and my girlfriend).

I'm gonna hate looking at myself in the mirror for the next 30 days..lol. I'm so gonna look like an out of work porn star.

Doesn't matter what you look like. What matters is that it's Movember!

Hell yea I'll be growing a moustache. I've got a beard already, so debating whether or not just to leave a mustache already.

Do you guys will raise funds or just grow a moustache?

Because just growing a moustache is pretty useless for fight against cancer.

It's also awareness on men's health issues in general. Will I help raise funds? No, and even if I'd want to, I've got no time in hand. University, university and university.

So is wearing a bracelet that says livestrong.

It gets people talking about it, that could lead to donations. I'm growing one because it's fun/funny, and pretty much everyone I know so far is also doing it.

Almost none of my family members/friends grew one, or even knew about Movember last year, that shows a growth in interest. I think we'll see that growth in the amount of money raised this November as well.

I try to raise fund, but am usually not very effective at it. So it's mostly in support of my Mo-brothers.

And the "70's porn star" stigmia has to go away. You realize that about 70% of the world still consider the moustache to be perfectly fashionable?

We should take our head out of our cultural ***** and stop believing that yesterday's standards of beauty are eternal. Just because the 'stache been not accepted for 20 years doesn't mean that it will always be the case. The main problem is simply the conservative taste of some people.

Yhea, at first people will react funny. Pretty much like if you changed something to your style, they will react funny, because people hate what is different. Near the end of the month, you with a stache will be perfectly normal.

My gf had the same reaction at the time, but she grew to like the stache once she got to know it. My sister told me she was repulsed by so many staches in the city last year, but by the end of the month, she actually started to like'em.

Don't let close minded dumbass tell you what's right and what's not. The idea that a way to present yourself is automatically ridiculous solely because it was popular 30 years ago is offensive.

I don't care one way or the other. I care about people being fashion zealot and using sophism when they explain why they judge you.

So.. You will be doing Movember by doing the exact opposite of what is required of you?

I'll be doing it, and I'll try to raise money.

Theres so much fundraising activity for women's cancers (not that this is a bad thing), and things like prostate cancer kinda get overlooked. The mere act of growing the stache should still get people talking, which is good because the goal is to raise awareness.

I did it last year and managed to raise $500 through my coworkers.

I just got a promotion though...I start tomorrow at a new office, and I don't know anyone there at all...So I might not grow the stache this time around and instead I'll just donate money.

The Montreal Canadiens have a team with 8 members so far. Who do you think will grow the best one out of the ones signed up? Gionta better have shaved his goatee, or he is cheating.

The 8 members signed up are

Hal Gill (Captain)
Brian Gionta
Raphael Diaz
Erik Cole
Tomas Plekanec
Mathieu Darche
Josh Gorges
Carey Price

http://ca.movember.com/donate/find-member-results/

When at the link just type Montreal Canadiens in the search button.

And everyone who wears pink but doesn't raise money contributes nothing towards breast cancer? Right.

I'm growing the 'stache. I shaved last night and I'm starting from scratch (like everyone should be doing). If someone has a full moustache already then they cheated and it doesn't count towards prostate cancer. If anything, they contributed towards FIGHTING awareness.

I'm obviously kidding, but seriously, I think everyone should start from scratch, it means more than way

Yep. Like this guy that I could barely recognize without his statche.

That's George Parros btw.

I'm gonna let my mustache grow but will probably have to shave it because I cannot grow a respectable mustache and my work won't like it. I'll let it ride as long as possible though.

Are you serious? It's a symbolic gesture. Not everybody has the time/money to contribute to every sensible cause out there. It's a way to show you support it, which is way better than doing nada.

Started it at my office and we've already raised $1,235 in 2 days. My moustache is going to be super ratty though.
