Obviously Gauthier targeted Eller from the get go and he got himself a good player. Fair trade. Those that say Halak sucks arent examining how good this guy is under pressure which is key.
This is why I hate Pierre McGuire, he says that but its not true, they were rumours that the Habs were shopping Halak before the trade dead-line. After the trade happened Bob Mckenzie said that there were 4 teams that made pitches for Halak, Tampa, St Louis, and San Joese (can't remember who the 4th team was). So saying they didn't shop him is false.

In regards to the return for Halak, some say you could have gotten more, but MTL was set on trading Halak and keeping Price. The longer PG waited, the less control he had on the situation. What if PG wanted too long and come July 1st St Louis offers Halak the same 3.75M deal they gave him, MTL would have gotten a 1st and a 3rd, and they clearly valued an almost ready prospect like Eller (former 1st round pick) and Schultz (former 3rd round pick), then the picks in the 1st and 3rd rounds in 2011.

IMO when we traded Halak we gained Eller and Price.

St.Louis needed a #1 goalie and the Habs needed a big center prospect.

IMO both teams traded from strength to fill a weakness so nothing to be ashamed of.
