Steve Eminger

I've only seen a couple games this season and have barely noticed him. Seeing as he is at -7 with no points, will he last? What is providing that Tim Erixon wasn't?

I actually hadn't noticed the -7.

I suspect he'll play until if and when Staal comes back. Unless he really drops an awful stretch here, he has priority over a guy like Bell.

its difficult for me to comment on him as i've only seen a couple of games and from what I've read on the boards he has played well compared to others. just wondering if the stats reflect bad play or misfortune

He is what he is: a 7th defenseman. The more Eminger plays, the more his deficiencies on the ice show. He is not a long term solution in the top 6.

The -7 is somewhat surprising, as I thought he has done a decent job in his role.

The last 2 games were pretty rough for the Eminer/Erixon pairing. -4 combined against TOR and OTT. Of course, Anisimov was DIRECTLY responsible for (2) of those goals against Toronto, so the stats don't tell the whole story.

We'll see how Eminger does without Erixon now. Woywitka a better defensive player than Erixon and I think he might be a better fit as Eminger's partner.

The organization felt Erixon needed some time in the AHL to get his feet under him and play a lot of minutes in all situations. He looked okay in the games he played but he was still a little tentative.

No need to rush him. They did the same thing with McDonagh.

Erixon looks close but not quite 100% NHL ready.

Our bottom pairing is getting abused so far no matter who is on it. No one is playing particularly awful, but the overall defensive effort against our bottom lines and pairings has been sub-par, IMO.
