Middleweight bout: Chris Leben vs. Mark Muñoz (dec) -- Don't think Leben can deal with Munoz' wrestling. Of course there's always the chance that he lands one of his patented out-of-nowhere KOs but I don't like the odds.

Bantamweight bout: Brad Pickett vs. Renan Barão (dec) -- long layoff for Pickett and a talented opponent spells trouble, I think... although this is definitely a step up in competition for Barao as well.

Welterweight bout: Thiago Alves vs. Papy Abedi (TKO) -- can't say I know much of anything about Abedi, but this is obviously the safe pick. Abedi has fought in strictly small-time shows and isn't exactly a spring chicken at 33 either.

Lightweight bout: Terry Etim vs. Edward Faaloloto (sub) -- Etim's coming off a long layoff as well, but he's being tossed a softball matchup here and he should be able to take advantage pretty easily.

Light Heavyweight bout: Cyrille Diabaté vs. Anthony Perosh (TKO) -- as long as Diabate avoids the ground he should be able to beat Perosh up.

Welterweight bout: John Maguire vs. Justin Edwards (dec) -- I vaguely remember Edwards being decent and having good wrestling from TUF 13, and since he's fighting a British guy I'm guessing that wrestling is gonna be enough to get a win.

Featherweight bout: Michihiro Omigawa vs. Jason Young (sub) -- I'm still an Omigawa mark even though he hasn't exactly impressed since coming to the UFC. Saw Young fight at UFC 131 and he looked OK but nothing special, so I have to believe Omigawa can pull this one off.

Heavyweight bout: Rob Broughton vs. Philip De Fries (sub) -- dunno anything about De Fries but I see he's pulled off a tidy run of finishes in his career so far, and Broughton ain't exactly anything special.

Welterweight bout: Chris Cope vs. Che Mills
Bantamweight bout: Chris Cariaso vs. Vaughan Lee

I don't know much about Abedi but what I saw from the weigh-ins, he looks like a comic book character, dude is chiseled.

In relation to these types of cards, I really wish they'd use these type of events to promote the lower weights and get the general public familiar with them. At the very least try and make 2/3 of the 5 aired fights come from the 135/145 divisions. It seems like one of the only ways to get the public familiar with these guys, hopefully growing the division.

Garza/Poirier for example would be better served on the main card here as opposed to the dark portion of the Fox debut. Even the Miguel Torres fight in November is listed as an under-card fight, another one that would probably be better served on a free card like this.

If you don't want to know the results, avoid ESPN as much as possible as they spoiled the results last year's event in the UK.

I don't know much about him either but I was listening to MMAJunkie Radio yesterday and 3 of the 4 guys picked Abedi to win. Ariel Helwani was one of the guys who picked Abedi and he seemed pretty confident with that pick.

What time do the facebook fights start?

Are we allowed to discuss the event or do we have to use spoiler tags?

Awards:
Use spoiler tags for the main card please, I personally won't be checking the forum, but just out of courtesy.

Facebook fights are fair game though.

Spoilers? The card is airing live here in Canada. Seems silly. People can easily avoid this thread for a few hours if they're worried, its not like they can make picks anyway.

There has been some quit in Alves' game the last few fights. I almost picked Abedi as well but I couldnt justify it based on hype alone. Ive never seen the guy fight.

Lots of wide swinging punches. Alves should be able to own the stand up game. Abedi does look pretty powerful on the ground though.

Decent BJJ game. Not sure about his top control. Seems kind of loose.

Looks like if he is going to win, it will be on the ground. Which is Alves weakness.

Nice job by Cariaso.

One judge gives it to Lee 29-28.

Sad.

Yeah, don't see how Lee won either of the last two rounds.

Che Mills has had a ton of hype in the past but maybe he's finally putting it together. I will say though, Chris Cope is not very good.

Not the greatest fight but Young is a pretty tough dude, Omigawa did about as well as Dustin Poirier did when he fought Young in Vancouver. Anyways I'm glad he finally got a win
