When Franzen is dominating he is always moving his feet and never waiting for pucks but going for the puck, and its games like that where I truly believe if he did that all the time he would score 40 goals a season.
That's my criticism of a lot of players, including Datsyuk. That is perhaps Zetterberg's best trait, is that he;s constantly on the move.

I wonder how much of that is involuntary. If you have to remind yourself to keep your feet moving, it might already be too late.

Are some people just built with this motor?

And you can make that statement out of the 11 minutes he played yesterday.
Gotta give him more playing time and more games and I bet he will fit in just fine.

Wha? A Swede coming to the rescue when a Swede is oh-so-slightly criticized? On the Red Wings Board, no less???
One question:
Are there other minutes I should be judging him on?

My belief is that this kid needs a season to adjust to the grind of the North American pro season.
I would have preferred he left college last year so that adjustment was already completed,

All I can say is that he didn't look like a guy we need to have in the lineup. He didn't show any great flashes. I don't see why we NEED him right now.

Are they not calling up someone then, will they really go with a 22-man roster?

Why always Hudler?

I wish I knew the reason, because he's not noticeably worse than any other struggling forward.
Because Hudler brings absolutely nothing else to the table in the NHL than the 45-ish points he's going to put up? Slow for a guy his size, no physical presence and can't be used in the defensive situations. There's nothing in Hudler's career suggesting he would keep up with a player like Datsyuk over 82 games. For every good game he's barely noticable for three. He's now on his fifth full season with the Wings, so I'm pretty sure Babcock knows exactly what he got in Hudler. He's a fringe top6 player on a team like Detroit, it's that easy.

11 minutes really isn't enough time to say much of anything.

Hopefully he gets another more substantial chance soon.

Why are the Wings messing with this kid? They're going to wreck him. He has a lights out camp and preseason and they cut him in order to sign a stiff like Brunnstrom, which was a slap in the face. Then they recall him for 1 game, hardly play him and demote him immediately. The way the Wings are handing Nyquist doesn't seem rational to me.

GR wasn't playing a game last night and their next game is home, so calling Nyquist up doesn't cost him a game in GR. Looks like a free 'extra' game, and it's not like Detroit needs to save cap space or anything. Besides, Hudler needed to sit a game and get replaced by a skill guy, not Drew Miller or Emmerton.

It was a bummer he didn't get on the PP at all, but it's just game 1 of however many.

He did get on the PP. First PP.

And for the fella that is concerned we're wrecking Nyquist...... really?

Some guys gotta do 3-4 years in the AHL to pay their dues but not Prince Gustav. Kindl almost made this team out of camp half a decade ago. And then proceeded to spend a couple more years in the minors. People need to relax. He's gonna be a good one for us but not now. He was gettign greased for a good start to his year. He'll be up again. Get a few games here and there. Personally I hope they promote Tatar for a couple games next time they want to bring someone up. Keep him focused. Share the grease around abit.

... and then draw a conclusion on the guys deserving to be in the NHL or not.

That was the amusing part, Tin.
