As someone else said, it's not like he was lying. Of the teams the Sharks played on this 6 game road trip, Rags were by far the softest. Every other team muscled up against them.

Maybe Thornton just confused Dan Boyle with Brian Boyle

Love it. Both Thornton and Torts.

Don't know if the Rangers are soft but they sure are a boring team to watch.

And the Rangers were the only ones that beat them. And soundly.

Imagine that.

You tend to get hit more when dominating the game than you do when you're chasing and playing like crap. Probably has something to do with it.

When you guys go on a road trip and do a 3 in 4, then let me know how you do. Can't believe people in here don't understand frustration. Rangers weren't exactly the best or toughest team they played on this road trip. They just caught the Sharks at the right time.

NYR has always had that reputation these last couple of years with Drury and Gomez, etc. They don't have team toughness. Sandpaper and grit. They hae one or two gritty players like Avery, one ore two top-of-the-line enforcers that trotted out to fight every now and then, but no team toughness. That is what is important. Maybe the brass is getting the message now; they've got IIRC Callahan, Prust, Boyle, Sauer, Staal, Girardi, and Dubinsky.

Compare that to the Sharks, though. Clowe, Couture, Pavelski, Thornton, Winchester, McGinn, Handzus, Boyle, Murray, White, Vandermeer, and Demers all bring some sandpaper to their game. Leaders of the team like Thornton and Boyle consistently bring that play. Callahan is there for NYR, but do Gaborik and Richards really embody that?

Just Joe calling out his team, the Rangers comment was just a means to an end, it seriously could have been most teams in the east to say that about considering they only see 12 of those teams only once.

It was a message sender to the Sharks even if the Rangers took it to heart they would see no retaliation unless in the finals. Plus they don't have a game for three days and the road trip is done, his comments will be forgotten by Thursday. Torts did the right thing by not giving a ****.

It's subtle irony. Well done.

Of all players, soft 6'5'' Joe Thornton criticizes the Rangers for being soft?

^^ LOL

Should have won Joe? haha your team was dominated. Instead of insulting the other team how about just say that the effort wasn't there from OUR guys, etc blah blah blah.

Torts took the high road here.

Again, way OOC for Joe. I dunno what was the question, but he certainly didn't HAVE to say it.

I see some people that are mad though. His trolling is working then.

Perfect response. I lost my respect for Thornton in the series against the Canucks last year, fool.
