I expect he'll be claimed though. I personally think that out of some of the at-the-time-Duck prospects to be waived in recent years like Carter and Bodie (now Ducks property again but not really a prospect anymore), Beleskey's the best one of the bunch. If those two were claimed, I'd be surprised to see Beleskey clear. Although, stranger things have happened.
After his rookie season he has basically been delegated to Carlyles doghouse. Makes one mistake and then never sees the ice for the rest of the game.

Don't agree with this at all. He got injured and hasn't been the same type of physical player since. This season there were a ton of openings on the roster and he can't win a full time spot. I don't think he should have been waived, primarily because I think the fact that DSP is still up is a joke, and he hasn't been any worse then some of our other bottom six players. Plus I find it hard to believe that no one would give anything for him. He will get claimed for sure.

Surprised he didn't get picked up, he's a good grinding player that could have added depth to a playoff team.

Going by the usual HF maxim, if everyone thinks the player has worth, and if everyone thinks the player will be claimed, he won't.

Nashville puts Bergfors on waivers.

Never really seemed to fit in, and the surprisingly good play of Brian McGrattan all but guarantees he wasn't getting back into the lineup.

What is wrong with the kid? He strings together games where he looks like a legit top 6, then you forget he exists.

Buffalo should pick him up and move Boyes in a trade.
They'd shed roughly 3.5 mil in salary by inserting Bergfors.

His work ethic and hockey sense are both below average. He simply does not play defence to the NHL standard, despite having had some of the best defensive coaches, which leads me to believe that he isn't a coachable player. He doesn't score enough or consistently enough to make up for these deficiencies.

If he doesn't have the puck on his stick, he's absolutely useless. Doesn't play defense, doesn't move his feet, doesn't particularly know where to go to score. Won't go anywhere he'll get hit, either.

He was billed as a low-risk chance at offense, but he didn't produce any. He's a worse version of Marek Svatos, who Ottawa claimed off of Nashville's trashheap last year. I don't recall how that went, but if it wasn't well, then this isn't going to please you much more.

Calgary may take a shot on him if they really are looking to get some younger guys then this would be a decent pickup. Wouldnt need to trade anything. First step in are very long rebuild!!!

hard to believe he was the centerpiece to the Kovalchuk deal.

Precisely what I was thinking. Lemaire had him in New Jersey and Ramsay had him in Atlanta, both coaches obviously being very defensive-minded. Even DeBoer when he had him in Florida wasn't the worst coach defensively either.

Bergfors wasn't necessarily the centerpiece of that trade IMO, considering Oduya + Cormier + 1st were all shipped to Atlanta with him. All of those were good pieces that made up the package. It's not really hard to believe he was one of those important pieces it took to acquire Kovalchuk + Salmela because at the time Bergfors was having a great rookie season (finished with 21 goals and 44 points) and he was highly-touted. It just happened that once being traded he started to struggle and now he's bouncing around the League from team to team (he's on his third team in the past year). Nashville tried him out and it was a zero risk move. He hasn't worked out the way they wanted and now he's on the waiver wire and the Preds lost nothing and they could be moving on from him very shortly.

He's still only 24 but there has to be some concern considering he's on his fourth (possibly now fifth if someone claims him) team.

Where have I heard all of this before? Oh, yeah, when we had him. Only way that guy can have marginal success is in a high offensive system/team. Benched under Ramsay, useless in a trap type system in Florida, and useless in Nashville's system(shocker there! ).
