Who Is The Habs Enforcer?

Bonk? IMO they should try and land GEORGE LARAQUES!BG has the power!Edmonton needs a center.Trade the little Rib for him.Not straight up but something within those lines.

I believe there was an article a year or so wherein Laraques said he would never play for the Habs... too much media/fan pressure.

2 toughest guys: Souray and Komisarek.

I think that Komisarek could take Quintal's job as the regular enforcer. It would be cool to see him getting stats like...10 goals, 30 assists, 40 pts, 200 PM.

I don't see komi getting much pints. I see him more as a stay at home defense and a very good one too.

I don't see Kommy as the type to fight a lot, only when truly pressed or needed. I think Montreal is looking to be a team that doesn't need an enforcer but a team that will play with toughness in Kommy, Souray, Begin, Rivet and so on this season. Langdon didn't really fight that often, and if your team has overall toughness with everyday players I think that is more valuable than a player playing 2-3 minutes a game for one reason only.

The above mention are quite capable of holding their won in scraps and aren't afraid to fight and they won't back down from a fight.

This would be his career year.

I see him getting steady 30 pts every year.

With Komisarek, we only saw the top of the iceberg yet. Especially his offensive game.

I was talking about maybe 10 real fights per year.

I don't think he has the attitude or the fighting ability to be an enforcer & I doubt he gets those points sitting in the penalty box that much.

He will take Quintal's place as a big, tough defenceman, however.

I think BG will pick up a decent enforcer off the wiavers, there should be a few good ones available, NJ signed both Langdon and Oliwa I would imagine they'd leave atleast one unprotected. I don't think a goon is somthing we abosoluty must have but it would be nice to get an ok one off waivers just to put in the odd game where we'd be up against a bigger opponent or just a game where we'd know it would be a rough one.

we don't need an enforcer. we have Begin, Ward, Komi, Souray, Bouillon, Rivet and others that can all do the job. W e don't need enforcers we just need players that could hit.

Perhaps it's just me, but I would prefer having a goon on our team than asking Begin, Ward, Komi, Souray, Bouillon and Rivet to take care of the other team's goon. I am pretty sure that none of Begin, Ward, Komi, Bouillon and Rivet could do well against guys like Peters, Belak, Worrell, Oliwa or even Neil. Maybe Souray (even then, I don't think so) could manage to do well in fights against real goons, do we really want one of our best defensemen to fight against 4th lines no talent goon, not to mention that Souray is one wrist injury away from retirement...
It's also a known fact that it is better to have your forwards taking care of the fights instead of your defensemen because you only have 6 of them.
Anyway, that's just my opinion...

We don't have any enforcers, sadly.

There was a pretty big thread about this a while ago, I posted my opinions in there & they are too long to post twice.

http://www.hfboards.com/showthread.p...9&page=1&pp=15

IMO the conclusion is pretty much that the habs will either, go with Ivanans if he has a good showing, or they will have to get someone off waivers if Ivanans pre-season experiment flops, but they clearly have to add toughness.

Ivanans wouldnt play every game IMO just the ones aganist the "tough" teams.

Highly doubt that, the guy signed this off season as a FA and would go without playing ATLEAST an AHL game? You're thinking Rene Vydareny me thinks.

Yup, it was Vydareny that signed in Europe.
