Guys, let's not get too cocky here. I'd love a 101 point season, yeah, but we were in 1st in the division––a month later in the season, no less––in 2008, and finished under 90 points and out of the playoffs.
I see the Wild ranking in the mid-lower 20s in almost every category you've listed.
But as they are mainly offensive categories, it makes sense. Goaltending has been key in more than a few of those wins so far.
GA/G the Wild trail only NYR (2.06). Even with our 24th ranking in GF/G, we're right in the middle of the pack (14th) in Goals-Differential/Game.
Also of note, the middling PK% is skewed by a somewhat rough October. We're sitting at 88.2% (which would be 5th or 6th if the whole season were that way) in the month of November and 89.5% in our last 9 games (86.4% over the last 10).
I think the lazy play last night was a godsend for the team. They finally got back from that brutal road stretch (3 games over 72 hours, crossing 3 time zones) and only had the one day off. The Avs didn't force any speed out there and the Wild were happy to oblige.
Hopefully a good day off today will let them come out firing tomorrow.
