Guys, let's not get too cocky here. I'd love a 101 point season, yeah, but we were in 1st in the division––a month later in the season, no less––in 2008, and finished under 90 points and out of the playoffs.

With tonight's win, Wild are now 2nd in the conference.

Impressive.

EDIT: Stars are actually losing 2-0 so...

i'm certainly not getting cocky. It's more along the lines of taking out your sister in a family game night bout of Sorry!. I'm a real sore winner.

It has a lot of information, but it's getting to the overload point I think. There's almost too much to look at, so I don't end up looking at anything.

I see the Wild ranking in the mid-lower 20s in almost every category you've listed.

But as they are mainly offensive categories, it makes sense. Goaltending has been key in more than a few of those wins so far.

GA/G the Wild trail only NYR (2.06). Even with our 24th ranking in GF/G, we're right in the middle of the pack (14th) in Goals-Differential/Game.

Also of note, the middling PK% is skewed by a somewhat rough October. We're sitting at 88.2% (which would be 5th or 6th if the whole season were that way) in the month of November and 89.5% in our last 9 games (86.4% over the last 10).

If the season ended today, we would have home ice, and we would play...

Edmonton

Oh god please let that happen.

Wild have now 25 points. If the Oilers lose tonight (Looks like it's the case so far), they would get 5 points ahead of the division.

How sweet would it be?

Tied for second in the league (two points behind league leading Chicago).

Oilers will still have a game in hand, but we'll be 5 points ahead if they lose tonight. Phoenix lost tonight so they would have to win two straight just to tie.

This isn't supposed to be happening.

I did not see Philly being as good as they are without Richards and Carter.

Wild are the hottest team in hockey. 8-2 record over the last 10, best in the NHL.

That Rangers 8-1-1 is pretty nice too.

Feels weird to say this but our real challenge is coming up on Saturday. The Blues are "red-hot" right now, and we really need to beat them.

They're probably doubly motivated as the last time we played, their coach was fired. Clearly that was something that had been in the works prior to the game, but it was the last one under the old guy.

The Wild will be ready for the Blues. I think the road trip hangover will be gone.

I think the lazy play last night was a godsend for the team. They finally got back from that brutal road stretch (3 games over 72 hours, crossing 3 time zones) and only had the one day off. The Avs didn't force any speed out there and the Wild were happy to oblige.

Hopefully a good day off today will let them come out firing tomorrow.
