West First Round Matchups
San Jose (1) v St. Louis (8)
Minnesota (2) v Dallas (7)
Chicago (3) v Detroit (6)
Nashville (4) v Phoenix (5)

East First Round Matchups
Rangers (1) v Toronto (8)
Pittsburgh (2) v Buffalo (7)
Boston (3) v Washington (6)
Florida (4) v Philadelphia (5)
NYR and Pittsburgh can't be #1 and #2, can they?

Boston would be #2, Florida at #3 and Pittsburgh would fall to #4.

Yeah, i intentionally didn't adjust based on division... just points.

Let me redo it quick, taking a little more time...

I guess:

SJS - strong, deep, and hungry
DET - excellent D and starting to score
MIN - very strong D, scoring should pick up
NSH - strong all around, very steady
VAN - they will come back as they calm down
LAK - scoring should break out
CHI - run and gun but loose D
STL - much better with Hitch, could sneak in
-----
PHX - the new Nashville
DAL - might slip with Goli out
EDM - respectable but too up and down
CGY - need to pick up scoring
ANA - will improve but maybe too late
COL - team not playing defense
CLB - just sad

PIT - great team even better with Crosby
BOS - strong and deep all around
TBL - should be better than they are now
PHI - needs to tighten up but high talent
NYR - buying into Torts' system
WAS - huge start, huge slide, talented but issues
BUF - improved team should gel down the stretch
FLA - out of nowhere playing great hockey
-----
MTL - middle of the pack team
TOR - high flying team but not disciplined
NJD - still lacking identity
OTT - too young and not enough D
WPG - playing beter but don't see it happening
CAR - coaching change will drop them again
NYI - nothing going for this club

You guys are gaining attention. I actually cared that you guys beat Nashville tonight.

One other thing, I'm going to try and not call you guys "minny" anymore. Never really clicked with me just how annoying that must be.

Keep winning, and eventually at some point you can no longer be ignored.

And thanks for your future attempts to remember to say "Minnesota".

Hey, it was fun while it lasted... we're going to lose first tonight, but we did hold it for longer than we ever expected.

Dropped to 2nd in the WC, but really 4th-place Detroit should be in front of us (we just get preference as a division leader) and 3rd-place San Jose will almost certainly pass us thanks to their 2 games in hand.

Division lead is down to 2 points over Vancouver, and only 3 points over Edmonton.

How the Wild rebound tomorrow night is gonna be pretty hugely significant.

You can't mention that San Jose and Detroit "should" be in front of us without mentioning that Chicago leads by 2 points, but we have a game in hand...

Oh, didn't notice that. In any case, our position is tenuous.

Probably should change the title of the thread but then again I do believe Minnesota is first in hockey.

This'll be one of those threads where we can look back at the end of the year at and be like ya, that was pretty cool for a while.

It'll also be useful during the offseason when arguing that the team will be much improved. We can point to how the team led the NHL for a while last year.

So, Pens lost and Hawks are losing after 2 periods (Considering they lose aswell) which mean the Wild might take back the 1st position in the league if they win tomorrow night.
