CHL Questions

Hey everyone i have a couple of questions about the CHL, if somebody could answer them it would be very much apprecicated. Thanks

1. How much do CHL players on average make? (If they make an at all)

2. Are there any major rivalries? (If so please name some)

3. Do CHL players still have to go to school? Is it optional?

4. Do you get to pick which league you get to play in or are you just assigned to one league? Can you get traded to another league ie. Yakupov gets traded to Gatineau.

5. Can CHL teams release players half way through the year? Can they sign players half way through?

Again thanks for answering. It really helps me out.

I don't know all of your answers, but I know for sure that players in the Q have to go to school while they are playing. Halifax and Cape Breton as the only two teams in Nova Scotia have a pretty long standing rivalry ... I can imagine the same is true for some of the teams in New Brunswick.

1. How much do CHL players on average make? (If they make an at all) $50.00 a weekfor most players $200.00 for overagers (3 per team)

2. Are there any major rivalries? (If so please name some)
OHL: Windsor vs London and Soo
Kitchener vs London and Guelph
Peterborough vs Oshawa

3. Do CHL players still have to go to school? Is it optional?
Optional by the league but mandatory by most teams (and parents).
Most if not all players graduate with at least their high school education.
A lot of players will attend college or university while still playing in the CHL

4. Do you get to pick which league you get to play in or are you just assigned to one league? Can you get traded to another league ie. Yakupov gets traded to Gatineau.
Each CHL league has the rights to the provinces and states that they have teams located in + each league has assigned states that they have rights to their players.
No, they can't be traded to a different league but a player can be waived to another league.

5. Can CHL teams release players half way through the year? Can they sign players half way through?
Yes and yes

Again thanks for answering. It really helps me out.
Hope that helps!

I would say that Chicoutimi/Québec is the major one in the Q. Gatineau used to have really good rivalries with Rouyn-Noranda and Val-d'Or, but they're nowhere near as intense as the used to be. I'm hoping that Boisbriand takes over from the long gone Laval Titan as our big rival. Boisbriand has been getting on my nerves this year, so there's hope in that regard.

Here is an example of $ a CHL player receives.

We hear cases of high end players getting "big" dollars.

I for one do not believe it.....and or believe it is rarer than rare.

The example in this article shows us an elite high end player and the low $ he received.
