If he's not a pro prospect chances are there are some serious problems to his game.
He has a twin brother, that's probably his biggest weakness, teams probably think he won't produce without his brother, which is BS because he has top end hockey sense.
Let's see.. leads one of the best teams in the Q in scoring without Martin Frk. Has very little support on his line (Ciampini isn't doing that well..) and he is 16.
Is only behind Mikhail Grigorenko (2 points in 2 less games and Grigorenko's supporting cast is much stronger) for rookie scorers in the Q.
Whitesnake is absolutely right with his comment. This isn't the case of not being a good enough player, it's about a players history and where he plays. MacKinnon is simply good enough to be on the camp roster and definitely good enough to make them think about being a part of the main team.
This is the same team that cut RNH (look at what he's doing in the NHL). So obviously the Team Canada brain-trust isn't as perfect as you're lead to believe.
Come on now! The WJC tourney and the QMJHL regular season are completely different. Team Canada brass have watched him and have deemed he's not ready yet....they know a lot more than any of us.
RNH is a much better player now than he was a year ago. I think we all understand that these kids are developing many facets of their game quickly in their teenage years. Seguin and Duchene also didn't make Team Canada in their draft years. In any event, MacKinnon's not ready yet. He'll have his day.

Any words on Tinordi's play this year ? I know he lost that famous fight against McGuire, I wonder if he continue to improve his game
I saw him on Sunday when London visited Brampton.
Still a ways from an NHL spot, his physical strength is not what I was hoping to see close-up and will need to mature for a couple of years in Hamilton if I had to guess. Didn't give up along the boards, but went down a bit too easily IMO for a 6'6" 19-year old.
Was pretty good on positional play and defensive awareness, but that first step could use improvement. Pretty good endurance though, 3rd game in 3 days and Dale Hunter had him playing what seemed to be half of the 3rd period in a tight game, to have him long all those minutes late in the game, including the last minute and a half of a 2-1 game was solid on the part of the coaching staff.

He's playing against Mac Bennett's alma mater, Hotchkiss.
All he has to do is keep playing hard and working out the same way he was leading up to the draft.Colin should be a Yale freshman with high expectations next season.
He's been goalless for a few games I think. He's had enough
He's probably being rested a bit by Don Hay his coach in Vancouver and in Team Canada, not bad a hattrick before the halfway mark.Looking forward to the Habs prospects playing this year it just adds to the excitement.
Well, I really hope that Sullivan is the first and last of our prospects to stay in US High School after we have drafted him.
Well I'm not thrilled about that. Clearly. Just eager to see how he'll do. Yet, he has to do great at that level.
